Well waited all week to get back to the colonial field. Neil, Pat and I ate at met at the diner at 6:30 ate and were at the field by 7:30. I concentrated on the area I previously hunted with my X5 but now armed with my Explorer WOT setup. Found 2 more colonial KG's one 1738 in beautful shape again and what I believe is a counterfeit KG of some sort, crown on the back. Found a beautiful set of cufflinks, my first complete. A real old button that I need help dating, and squeezed about 6 more buttons out of the minefield looking area. Also found an 1892 barber dime in the mix. Moved around quite and bit and managed to squeak out 2 more coppers. 1 TOASTED half cent and a super smooth KG I believe along with 2 more buttons. Put a good 9 hours in today and my arm is not used to that explorer with the 15inch coil.(My shadow weighs 2 pounds) Another unbelievable day racking up 4 coppers and about 7 buttons. Found 2 pieces of a real nice shoe buckle also. This soil is to die for I wish all my fields had this sand/loam. Thanks for looking ! Can someone date the hexagon shaped button and ID the counterfeit KG?

All finds found in the field pictured, in a small 2 acres are just to the right on a ridge. Thanks again! Antiquarian, I agree the cuff links are one of my favorites too.

Looks like your going to have a really productive site there.
I'd bet it'll never be "hunted out" either! :icon_thumright:

Thanks for the ID's Don and IP that what I thought it was. The adjoining woods isn't actually woods Its a big activity center complete with concrete that covers up the ground that more of this stuff would be found! Such a shame. Thanks again.

Beautiful finds and looks like a lot of fun dig!

Nice cufflinks and love the condition of the coins!!

Cheers

You got some more good stuff waiting for you there......
The 1892......drop by a pre-WWI guy, hunting with a primitive metal detector......just like us, except for the equipment
he was using.....:)
Have some great hunts and great finds in 2011.

That is awesome. :notworthy:

good hunt Jim! I'd love to come hunt with you guys sometime!!! I like the cufflinks and the key. I'll be that hunt was a blast!

You found a site that will be held in high Colonial esteem. The King George II Irish copper is killer. Wow, what a site, Jim! :icon_thumleft:

WOW - that's quite a haul!

Congrats on scoring some real nice lookin' coppers. The other finds are very nice too. Keep hitting it hard and maybe a nice big silver will reveal itself. HH ..... Bill

Boy that looks like a fun hunt! Your coins are in great condition. Like Don said, your octagonal "button" is a cufflink. Also, the key is for a barrel tap.

Thanks again all. I was thinking clock key but barrel key makes more sense thanks for the ID. That totals 3 cufflinks and 1 full set. That place is hammered now but I will surely be returing to maybe pull another older out.

You got to like sites like the one you have found, great display. Brian C.
