Diggers

Trust me, Tim and George are very used to public criticism, and frankly it doesn't bother them. But in a small part it bothers me having been a close friend of theirs for the past 8 years or so. They are truly very good people and would do anything for me. They above any one else in this hobby deserve a tv show and the ability to detect these exclusive places. They are not idiots or bafoons they are just two guys that enjoy what they do, they never plant any items and am very sure that if they were asked to they would refuse. The people they work for let them be who they are and it works. I really wish that each and every one of you could meet them. You would see what I am talking about. That is all:0)

Ahh shucks! Just when I thought the Fat Lady was gonna sing.. :laughing7:

I'd like to meet them and tell them in person there a bunch of clowns.

Who's Tim and George?

They get to hunt some incredible places, and they obviously have a great time exploring. We even get to learn a little history on coins, artifacts and such. HH

Oh dholland, your such a great guy, I'm so glad that you are a part of this wonderful hobby. I hope your pouch is full of juicy good nectar all year long;0)

You to Terry, your the bestest! I'm sure that everyone benefits from your professional insight into this very demanding hobby, we are sure glad to have you so that we may not be swayed to the dark side of detecting.

There is a TV show called ..Diggers ..on National Geographic channel and the diggers names are Tim & George .. aka King George & Ringmaster Tim

Ahhh.....ok. I have seen bits of a couple episodes. I thought they were a bit silly acting and maybe even a little faked for the show. I decided I'd learn more here and haven't watched 'em since. This was just my opinion, Montana......not bashing your friends. I'm still pretty new to the hobby, so what do I know, right?

If you met them in person you would probably giggle like a girl and ask for their autograph. :love10:

I watched it tonight. I think it's better than the other shows I've seen. Anything is better than "BOOM Baby"... I just wish they didn't have to start yelling and rolling around on the ground like idiots. The first time one of them did that I thought he got bit by a poison spider. Then I realized they do it everytime.... And that goofy habit of referring every find as "nectar" is weird.. Guess I've been doing it wrong all these years. I do have to wonder how much money the network pays out to get them into some of the historic sites they go to and if they have to turn over the finds they make.

T.V. shows can definitely have a negative and positive effect on a hobby. One of my hobbies is trapping. There are several shows now that include trapping and super high price quotes on fur. For instance they say a beaver is worth say 50 bucks on the show, this can be true but is not likely, you could get 50 bucks..if it was perfectly prime, big, and had good color, but your average is going to be much lower. Since these shows have been running I am seeing some really desperate and disrespectful guys out there thinking they're gonna get rich trapping, I actually had a guy knowingly set traps within 5 feet of mine on private land, part of what influenced this could have been high fur prices, and I am not attributing this entirely to T.V., but these shows certainly have peoples attention. The bottom line is the more people you have introduced to the sport the higher the chances you will get some bad apples, chances of having bad apples is much higher when you have 10,000 people doing something as opposed to 100. The positive is some of the new comers may be a really great addition to the hobby, maybe they are going to invent a new detector that blows everyone's minds, maybe they practice law and will keep an eye out for protecting dectorists rights, or maybe they will simply be a good steward to the land and have positive interactions with the community, giving the hobby a good reputation. For the record, I don't think the dude needs to run around like a kid that just ate 60 pounds of sugar for people to watch, and I do think your buddies are ridiculous Montana, I think people would still watch if they just yelled and ran over to each other to see the finds. I am sure they are great guys but running into a tree with your crotch just really isn't necessary.

Seems to me that both Tim and George are damn good
detectorists, know their equipment and they put in the
effort to find the goodies.

Hell, my old detecting partner and I had a few phrases
we'd made up on our own, too, and when a really good
find was made you betchya one would holler for the other,
and they'd come a runnin' to see what was found.

They're excitable guys with high energy, and they dearly love
what they're doing. There's "Bozo's" all over the treasure
hunting community, and IMHO these guys are not NOT two
of them.

JMHO.

These two clowns do not help us in the slightest. Over the last thirty I have been given access to several historical sites because I made serious and well-researched requests for access. I can't imagine allowing anyone on one of these sites with a couple of half-witted morons like these two guys. Every time King George puts a blade in the ground I keep hoping for him to hit a landmine or a box of discarded blasting caps. He is one of the most obnoxious person that I have seen on TV in a very long time.

These buffoons make the rest of us folks with metal detectors look like a pack of idiots. At their Seventh Calvary dig they tried to tie everything that they found personally to Custer. It just made them look idiotic - a role that they fill quite naturally. Diggers could be a great show if the producers weren't trying to create so much drama. I haven't finished watching the Custer episode. I am still holding out hope that they will find that five-megaton H-bomb that old 'Yellow-Hair' lost at his camp before heading out to his destruction. I sure hope the pressure detonator is still functional. <g>

metal detecting on crack. They can not be doing our hobby any good.

I love the show. It gets me through the long Wisconsin winter. My wife says I act stupid like they do and wants to know why I didn't got up with the "Diggers" idea.

I like the show, and my 8 year old son LOVES the show!!! We discovered the show last year together. He gets very little TV time so when he is interested in a show we watch it together, so I can make sure it's appropriate. It's a good, clean family show. I enjoy the finds and my son enjoys the finds also but cracks up on how they act, very entertaining. So our interest was sparked in detecting. He started with a kids $50 detector, and I let him dictate the use, as in we only went detecting if he asked, and he asked a lot!

Now we both have Fisher F2's Now we have another great father/son activity to do together along with scouting, hunting, fishing, hiking, etc..

So thank you diggers, keep bringing the roundness!!!

No I'd go run up tree dive through a dog box so they can see how stupid they look.
