Yep, I watched it, and I was wondering, weren't those all or most of those searches in "national" parks? Where using a metal detector is a "no-no"?

Is it just me or has there been a lot of detectors making appearances on tv, from news crime scenes, to history channel shows lately?

I kept wondering that also.
Removal of anything from "national" parks is Illegal.
does Forrest know this ? is the Big Question.
If he did then it is not within the park.
If he didn't

Yikes !!!!

I am pretty sure that if he hid something in modern times with the express purpose of having someone find it, then the Park Service would welcome the added tourists and not have any problems with taking what is found.

yes that also came to mind , is Fenn still checking the spot ?
& if he is, how hard would it be for someone to shadow him ?

if he isn't checking it yet.
who is to say it's still there ?

he claimed on the show nobody but he Knows where.
This means he hasn't sent someone to look at any point.

Maybe he has access to one of those really awesome close up and personal satellite feeds to check on his site, and a locator beacon that goes off if it is moved.....or then squirrels maybe on his payroll :D

Didn't he say he placed it where it can be seen...not buried? I know he said people have been within a few hundred feet of it....so maybe he has eyes on it.

Santa Fe is 7200 feet....so anywhere north and at 5000ft could be pretty close to home. Dude could be able to take a short car ride to it....idk. I only know bits and pieces....probably way off.

Fenn also said the box is hid at least 8mile north of santa fe to canada
in the rockies, then josh said fenn has narrowed it down to 4 states.
4 states: Montana, Wyoming, Colorado or New Mexico
i think something to do with fenn book, to far to walk, and a map in it
and the most southern end of the rockies is the sangre de cristo mountains
so ya it could be close to home

It's probably very simple, in plain sight but hidden by all the smoke & mirrors clues.
Maybe something like, he went up there then hid it in his car, all the clues would apply because the car was there at the time it was hidden, and he would "know" if it was found.
Certainly Incorporated in the surroundings, obvious, but never seen.

I don't know.
I do believe he hid it.
I don't believe it was a scam.
But an old man who thought he as dying making 2 trips back and forth
in order to get the whole treasure to it's hiding spot ?
I do believe it is no more then a Mile from where ever he parked his car.
and not an area frequented allot.
or he would have been worried about being seen carrying the chest .

Maybe I'm going too much by My Health issues.
But I would have put it just barely out of site of the Parking spot.
at most. Maybe even within sight so I could sit on occasion in the car
and see if anyone nears it.
without worrying about being tracked.
that would also give me the chance to rush over and make sure it's still there.
before anyone shows up.

He wouldn't have been seen carrying the chest as it would have been in a backpack. He would have gone downhill with the weight and back uphill without it .He's not driving to the spot and checking on it as he is probably fully aware that people would be watching. Buy the way, What kind of car does he drive?

the 2 things I seem to remember him saying was several people have been near it.
and Nobody knows where it is but Him.

Therefore to know some people were near it.
I do believe he checks it.

game camera, or either From above it on a hill , Or by walking directly to it.

He said he reads all of his E-mails and hunters tell him where they have been searching. He said 2 groups of searchers have been within 200' of it and walked on by.
