FBI Video Exposes Civil War Gold Cover-Up Josh Gates Investigates | Expedition Files

Was anybody here present at the dig site, besides Dennis, who can confirm that there wasn't any gold found? Unless there was someone viewing the entire dig, there is no eye-witness evidence to prove there was no gold. If anyone here knew the truth, they would know that Dennis did find gold at that site, but the DCNR PA would not let him dig. That's why he called the FBI. I mean I think Dennis had spent 20 years on that hunt. He obviously was on the gold. Anybody who knows Dennis knows he's a stand-up guy who plays by the rules, doesn't lie and is very competent at what he does!
Are you talking about the Dents Run site?
I personally dont think there was ever any gold at Dents Run.
But Who knows?
You will probably never know what it was all about.

You ever get a good look at the chair Lincoln was in when he was shot?
Never heard of a Deringer that sprayed shotgun pellets.

I've seen a few different clips of this leaked FBI dig video on different sites. Each one seems to have footage from different parts of the dig, different angles of the dig, the agent talking into the camera, even a clip of them doing paperwork in the tent they had setup. But they're all short clips. Does anyone know where to find the entire video?

The videos you have seen are likely some of the short videos apparently captured by someone in the Public Relations Office who was on-site. These videos were to be processed and released to the Plaintiff., so perhaps FK can share all of them with you and the public.

This is an excerpt from the record: "The OPA confirmed that one individual from the Public Relations Office was on the Dents Run dig site and had produced 65 “video clips” of Dents Run dig site. The 65 “video clips” were not uploaded into the FBI’s main investigative file, which accounts for RIDS not locating them during the initial search. The 65 “video clips” and run for an approximate total time of 43.34 minutes. The “video clips,” described in more detail in Exhibit B, do not depict the discovery, removal, or transport of gold (or anything else) from the dig site and will be processed and released to Plaintiff in 15 minute increments."

You can see a complete list and description of the videos here:

Yes, I'd say that's exactly what they were from. I wasn't aware that all of those were released. Thanks a lot for the reply, it was extremely helpful and saved me a lot of time!

years ago, I searched national, state (OH, CA, WV, PA), and local archives, genealogy records, and more... with one exception (perhaps notable, but unsure), and came up with bupkis. As a history fan, I'd love somebody to show me actual documentation for this legend.
It's funny the FBI denied for decades that any gold was lost YET they show up with 4 dozen FBI agents and all kinds of equipment to pick it up....

Treasure hunting father-son duo win FOIA lawsuit against the FBI over gold search

A Clearfield County father-and-son treasure-hunting team has won a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit against the FBI tied to a long-running search for what is believed to be Civil War-era gold in Elk County.

The treasure hunting duo, known as Finders Keepers, are Dennis Parada and his son, Kem. They spent years researching reports of Union gold believed to be buried during the Civil War before narrowing their search to a cave in Dents Run in Elk County. They say there were readings of gold at the site and believe there could be seven to nine tons of gold and silver below the surface. They also say the federal government would only own about 52 bars of gold.

Because the gold they were searching for was federal property, the FBI was able to dig for it. In a search warrant filed in March 2018, the FBI said it was looking for between one and two tons of gold. The warrant also said the search was supposed to happen between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. each day.

My prediction: Nothing will come of this. If there wasn't any gold, they will continue to say so. And if there was, they certainly aren't going to just throw up their hands and say"Well, I guess we're gonna have to 'fess up, cuz the judge sez so."

This is how treasure legends are born. The results will always remain the same, coming down to two key words, egocentricity and complicity.

Okay...

1st... Josh Gates. I've dealt with his show/production team in Ecuador. And, it is about entertainment/monetization, not actually accomplishing anything/solving mysteries. I would not put much stock in his pronouncements

2nd... sgtfda. Back around 2010/2011 I seem to remember you telling me that a local had found gold (a gold bar) at Dent's Run. So, I don't understand the "never any gold at Dent's Run" comments. Of course, I may be misinterpreting.

3rd... back when I was researching Dent's Run I contacted the CA archives in hopes of connecting gold shipments to the event. Recently, I saw someone claim a KGC connection to Dent's. KGC was active in CA, so it occurred to me... What if there was a connection between the KGC, CA, and Dent's Run all along? I know... stretching it big time.

I'm not answering for Sarge.
Consider Dents Run an area as opposed to the dig site of the alleged F.B.I. absconding with gold.
There exist Dents Run, and Little Dents Run.
Sinnemahoning creek.
Next thing ya know you can't see a hundred yards through a hill.
And higher ground elsewhere but near (define near precisely) can still be considered Dents Run/area.

In addition , the F.B.I. dig site wasn't chosen by the recovered gold finder.
That is important if gold being recovered in the area prior bothers you.
As relating to claims of gold where the F.B.I. was steered to a spot . any proof or even strong rumor of gold having been recovered in the region prior is better than nothing.
Followed by the "other" alleged gold on site. On a drill bit (not an auger?) for example. Followed by alleged equipment readings indicating.... Followed by...

Just have to wonder.........the cia agent was found with gold bars......? Just have to wonder where they came from.............are they the ones found in dents run....?

Never crossed my mind.
Now that conspiracy is stuck in my head. Thanks a lot.

Sgtfda & Releventchair...

I have not been to the Dent's Run/Belle Draft areas since 2011 (I made 3-4 trips). Despite all of my primary source digging in PA, WV, DC, and CA, I only found a couple of pieces that supported the legend. As much as I enjoy a good treasure story every element fights the facts:

1. Gold bars do not make sense as payroll
2. A major official federal gold movement should leave a paper trail/shadow
3. The WV>PA by wagon is not a rational high-value route unless the story is not what it says it is

The legend, as told, is illogical and inconsistent with the facts. I think that the legend holds a kernel of truth. But the "real" story is not reflected in the legend. The more likely story...

The gold already intersected the region through a private, criminal, express, banking, or local route, and the Civil War wagon-train story was later built around that smaller event.

Where did you come up with a payroll shipment ..? The story is there was never any gold shipment yet Army intelligence and the Pinkerton have spent decades hunting for the gold that isint there ....who says the secret gold bars shipment wasn't going up to canada to arms dealers after all tens of thousands of Americans were slaughtered at Gettysburg and tempers were exploding so why would they leave a trace on some secretaries desk for traitors eyes. To see......you should ask yourself why the FBI was there with 4 dozen heavily armed men...the FBI thoroughly researched this so called tale and went to get the gold ..they said the finders could watch the dig but they made them sit in a car for hours many yards away and they dug and said they were quitting for the nite and sent them home then proceeded to dig all nite...

Who found them?

Read what Jack says. The Express, Lock Haven, PA Saturday, December 28, 2002 P.15

Just to clarify again, Jack has never been quoted as saying he found two bars of gold. In fact, Jack specifically says the alleged gold bars were found by an old man.

Something interesting in the Express news article from 2002, Schall is quoted as saying of the alleged old man who was the finder... “he has promised he will leave the gold to Schall when he dies”.

Again, if one believes the story told in the article by Schall, then you must accept his word that the alleged old man really existed and that he allegedly found two bars of gold. One can then only assume the old man could have passed and gifted the alleged gold bars to Schall as Schall suggested he would. In reality, the fact is, even if two gold bars really existed, there is still no proof of their origin, how they were acquired by the old man and/or where they could have be "found".

SGTFDA has made assertions that Jack was lying about the old man and using the story as “cover. It's disrespectful to Jack and his family and his legacy to say he was lying as a cover up. Jack was allegedly writing a book of his hunt for the gold. The book was never released to my knowledge. We don't know if that book was to be a fictional or non-fictional account of the legend or perhaps a mix as it was said to include "tales".

By Sarge’s assertion of Jack lying as a cover up, it then destroys the credibility of Jack’s story (which is well documented evidence in the news article). Jack is no longer on earth to clarify or speak for himself against Sarge's claims. Sarge continues to post a picture of his head stone to remind folks Jack can't speak. But if you want to know what Jack really says, read for yourselves...The Express, Lock Haven, PA Saturday, December 28, 2002 P.15

Spoiler alert... "Jack had lost a little of his faith in mankind because of being burned by people who promised never to divulge his secret, but who return to one spot or another on their own."

Makes one wonder why even in death, some feel the need to divulge Jack's secrets for the sake of their own legend and lore.
