Here is another picture in the same general vicinity.

Look across the little canyon and spot the entrance in the wall.

um, and that is my arm again.

Still cool though.

Patrick

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that the same cave that appears in "Treasure of the Valley of Secrets?" Pretty cool...wonder if anyone's been able to get inside. Von Mueller (as Gladson) described it as a difficult cave to reach...

Hi Randy,

Sorry for the slow responses. Not online much for about a month now.

You have a good eye. Yes, it is the same cave.

Hello Patrick,

As I seem to recall--the tunnel in your pictures goes in a little ways--then is blown shut--it would take a serious miner to open it up.

So if you solved the lue map--then why don't you go to another of the locations on the map, if the specific site you saw is on private land???
Depending on your skill level you have 5 to 11 locations to chose from.

If you like you can always get me to tag along---I am always looking for a prospecting partner whom seriously gets out in the field.

Randy, I sent you a PM, but I'd thought I'd mention... I have been in that cave. I have a souvenir too.

ok so you found a cave...big deal. I have found many caves in the Sangre de Cristo Range as well. Now if your cave has markings around the entrance then you might have something. I am not knocking you in any way....but for people to say they have solved it is a ridiculous claim, I could sit here and tell you what I have found, but that's not my place to do so. I think its highly dangerous to be posting pics of your finds, unless you want someone following you out there and gunning you down.

It has been awhile. And you are still as cool as ever.

I moved from Texas to Colorado. Should have done that a long time ago.

Hi Treasure Hunter 2004,

The pics were more to show that the locations in the original book were identified. Personally, I think KvM was in the wrong area. He was close, but I think he was looking in the wrong direction. The stuff I found was west of those photos.

As for someone following me and gunning me down? Well, I suppose there are people who think that way. It would make for a cool and dramatic ending and going out doing what I love would be ok. Better than having a heart attack or stroke sitting on my couch reading posts about it.

The really cool thing is, now I live in this area and get out exploring and treasure hunting multiple times each week. I cannot think of a better activity to do since I retired early.

That site I found did have some markings. Here are a couple pictures:

Thanks for posting and all the best to you.

Patrick, as always good to hear from you. I think the big distinction to make here is that the cave you show was never implied to be part of the LUE by Karl, but the cave from the Treasure of the Valley of Secrets, which is a totally different cache site. I think Karl implied they might be related (I don't have my notes handy), but he definitely made a distinction between the two. More importantly, it's pretty well established that the LUE is a multiple site map...meaning your site and anything Karl suggested could all be equally as legitimate.

Incidentally, don't think there's much chance of getting gunned down...the LUE is a memory in the mind of a few, the current crop of fortune hunters don't put much stock in the story I don't think. I always thought the best way to approach things is to assume the stories about Black Lake, NM being true and try to reverse engineer the map in an effort to uncover additional locations.

Refering to post # 5 the arcs refer to rivers--Wrong!
go back to the drawing board--or go back to high school
and take geometry again.

Reply to Pearl54 Post # 10

Karl's store was west of Trinidad in Sequndo Colorado.
Karl was a man of dignity and honor and integrity--so upon his death
he was welcomed home warmly by the Angels.

Some people have no dignity, no honor and no integrity; such a person--burned down Karl's store.

Randy Bradford,

I was trying to indicate that the long swirls in Patrick's post # 5 do not represent two rivers.

I also want to give my opinion that the LUE map is real and is a true treasure map.
I will go even further and say most of the early Spanish or Jesuit treasure maps are all
written in code. In my opinion the Spanish Maps code is easier to break and safer to break.
When tracking a Jesuit--be careful. There are twist or turns or traps that will make your head
spin. A Spanish Map--break the codes--and often you got it ( the location ) a Jesuit--well
break the code--and he has your ass right where he wants you--in deep ****.

I will give you my opinion of tracking a Jesuit--everything is precision--precise--and you better
know your BIBLE--the Catholic Bible and then keep in mind the meaning of the Eagle, the
Winged Man, Tobias, ect, ect.

Hello Randy Bradford and Patrick D.,

Would either one of you want to go prospecting in Southern Colorado or Northern New Mexico?
I am looking for a prospecting partner as my wife does not like me going out in the field ( into
the mountains ) and prospecting alone.

Hi Barton,

You are right, those curves turned out to be the isoperimetric curves used in celestial navigation.

Using Greenwich is the wrong prime meridian though.

I would be up for cache hunting, metal detecting, gold prospecting, SCUBA, rock climbing or rappelling in Southern Colorado or Northern NM.

Patrick
