Finally 1800's update!!! AND THEM SOME!!! AND EVEN MORE!!!!!
Finally!!! I was out in the church yard today sweating in the heat.. Swinging along the sidewalk I was content finding a few wheaties with my new M-6,(thanks Dallas!)... Well by now the sweat running in my eyes I figured at the end of the shade a small tree was providing me I would call it a day.. The M-6 gave me a high tone in the penny dime range and in the 90's vdi..I was in a bit of a rush so when I pinpointed it the depth reading was 9".. I had a quick thought to forget about it and head in... I had a short walk to get to the house and figured I would do a quick dig.. Cut a flap about 6" deep and checked it..Still in the hole.. I grabbed my pinpointer and started probing the bottom.. No signal.. I scan the hole again and a clear repeatable high tone was heard.. I took my trowel and slid it down the sides of the hole 3-4" and loosened the soil.. The first time I stuck the pinpointer in the bottom of the hole it sounded off.. So carefully I brushed the dirt away and see a glint of silver.. I thought it might be silver as I found a 1923 merc a few days ago but it was only at 5 ".. Pulled it out and with out brushing the dirt off I went to put it in a film container which wasn't in my pouch.. So I put in my shirt pocket and thought to myself, "I better keep a eye on that".. Dug a signal and watched it fall out!! Picked it up and back in the same pocket again!! And did that one more time!!! Got back to the house and threw the pennies and it in a glass of water.. After I cooled down I started rinse them off and looking to see if they were wheaties or not.. Well I get to the dime I didn't even wipe it off I just ran it under the faucet.. I don't have my glasses so i call my daughter and ask if I can borrow her eyes.. I say "can you read this" and figured its a rosie but hopefully a merc.. She look and says it says one dime on it.. I then ask what year and she replies 1899!! I'm shocked and say"ARE YOU SURE
So here it is...

After my last post I was cleaning the wheats that the M-6 found yesterday.. When I get home I rinse them and try to determine if I should clean them.. I look at the back of the pennies and I can see the raised area that the wheat makes and clean those and put the memorials in a bucket for later tumbling.... Well after about 3 hours I check to see how the wheats were doing,, First was a 31 and it was cleaned quite nice.. The other three still needed more so back in they went.. 2 hours go by and I checked to see if any further cleaning was nesassary.. Rinsing them off I found a 55 and the next was a 41.. Great!!
As I proceeded to rinse the last one off I noted it needed a little more time.. I didn't have my glasses or magnifying glass but as I rinsed it I notice it is different.. I left it for a time while I located my glasses amd magnifying glass.. I couldn't beleive my eyes a indiainhead!! As I scan the coin and look for a date I remember that I made a comment to my son when I found a 1909 wheat that I wished it was a 1909 indian instead.. Well not only did the M-6 find me my first 1800's coin, a 1899 dime but as my eyes focused the date was 1889!!!! Not one but two 1800's coins on the Fourth of July!!!!!
Well I was hunting today in the same area and the M-6 gave me a high tone.... and found thisanother first for me a 1930 standing lady quarter !!!!
