I don't post very often, basically I'm computer illiterate. But I have to share my brothers find. He asked permission from a co-worker to hunt his yard. It's a very big yard,in the middle of town. The house is over 100 years old and there used to be a horse barn on the property. The first time he checked the yard he found some wheats, clad and a standing liberty quarter.Well he got out today before the weather turned rainy and he again found clad and a barber dime.Towards the end of his hunt he found a 1914 Indian head half eagle gold coin. He still has only checked maybe half the property.Hopefully the weather will let him hit it a few more times. Needless to say we were extremely excited.
He has been on a great roll finding 3 silver half dollars and many other silver dimes and quarters. It's to bad the season is almost over,(Midwest winter). Thanks for looking, it took my 3 attempts to post :-[ Dan

Thanks a lot, I had to look up "incuse devices".......sounded like some sort of vibrating toy.

Anyhow, ds6191, your brother did good on this one!! What a terrific save!! Congrats!!! :icon_thumleft:

I hope he gets another chance to finish that site before the end of the year! If not, he will be dreaming of what could still be left there all winter long..........

That Gold Coin Is A Dream Come True, I'm Sure...... Good Job

Thanks everyone. My brother is the best, when he found it,it was caked with soil but he could see just enough to tell it was gold. He actually waited for me to get to his house and he let me rinse it off. He said it was about 5 inches down and our machine was set between foil and nickel.
Allen, the banner would be awesome but I know the rules, he doesn't have the internet.I had to share.I get such a joy at looking at the other finds. It Keeps the dream alive! The treasure is still out there! Silver and gold, just like Yukon Cornelius.
"The only type of American coin with incuse devices." Capndan151, The coin tricked me a little, near the Chief's neck it looked like a stain or blemish when you looked at it with the lighting from the side. Until we got in the direct light did we really see how awesome the coin is. It's a keeper. He wants to get it graded and put in a protective case. And how would we go about doing that? Thanks everyone for looking, Dan

Hey Dan, Thanks for posting that Beauty!

Your brother can still join Tnet (even from your computer). I suspect this would get him a Banner for sure.

I've touched a coin like that ... many times. It was even promised to be mine as I became older. Sadly, someone lied to the lit

NOW I just NEED to find one on my own!

The "thrill" of finding one of those has eluded me for 25 years!

Congratulations and cheers! (no adult beverage emoticon available) ;D
