My take from Peshastin Creek WA yesterday. Dug a nice hole behind a big rock at the edge of the water. My first pan had 4 or 5 colors. Ran my 24" sniper for about 3 hours which kept up nicely, I love it.

Right, but some guys around the site seem to be able to do pretty well, maybe enough cover the gas. Then again even if you found that much gold nobody really sells it anyway, it's just too cool. In the west and California especially it's not too rare to find nuggets but hobbyists don't usually find any nuggets considered to be large (ounces not grams). Biggest nuggets found in the West recently were from a placer operation near Liberty WA, a 16 and a 13 ouncer in the same day I think. Google Corbley Potato Patch Gold Nuggets.

Wow, so you would really need a lot of gold dust for it to be worth
anything significant huh? Does anyone every find large nuggets?

At the current gold price of approx. $1095, that gold would be
valued at between $6 and $7 dollars.

Slicker, spend some time reading the threads and you'll get a bit
more realistic idea of gold prospecting.

Hey I just started this treasure hunting hobby. Just as a point of reference, what would you experienced guys/gals say this amount weighs? What is it worth, money-wise?
I'd say about minus $130.00 but is not about the money it's about the gold

Four bucks. 2 grains. Nice first gold!

As I was getting in the truck today a guy on a motorcycle comes through, this is a very remote area. We talked for about 20 minutes. He was from Wisconsin on a road trip. I'm usually reluctant to discuss prospecting but he wasn't from these parts and had already spoke his peace about government affairs. So I told him I was prospecting. He asked if I make much doing it. I replied, its a hobby. Maybe someday....

id be happy with that gold anyday! im sure youll have days with a lot more color too.

Pays for more than gas ......not a hobby......keep digging you'll get more..
