Okay, I am the first to admit when I am wrong and I guess I was wrong on this. There have actually been Indian Pipes found with carbs in them and I have seen a few pics of some after looking around. First I've heard of it though. I guess our ancient ancestors were firing up the stink bud thousands of years ago. lol

I hope that it wasn't a real pipe that some dumb pot smoking hippy added the carb to it after finding it before your friend did. Just a thought.

Hey.... I resent that. Most hippies aren't dumb, nor do all of us burn herb. You still my buddy though!

Hey Man, I've seen that pipe before. I grew up in pa, and lost that on a hunting trip 30 years ago. I thought my cousin snaked it from me, guess he was telling the truth, first time for everything. We caught the dead in scranton that night, real bummer without that pipe. But we found some kind folk who helped us out, it was all good. Glad we could clear up that mystery. I don't suppose you found a 65 vw microbus where you found that pipe? PEACE

please don't be a knuckle-head, some people might take that joke seriously. lol

I think it is made of water-worn steatite. I have a stone pipe in my collection with a hole in the bottom just like this one, too. What a terrific find!

Kindest regards,

Monty

oh thats awesome! you're from mongomery county in pa i assume?

dunno if they were blazin up mary j, probably just tobacco man. lol. and this pipe, if u put any ground up smokables in it at all, it would fall strait thru. its not like the glass pipes you find these days. i'd imagine they stuffed strait dried tobacco leaves in the top, its anyones guess tho really.

From what I have read they smoked something called Kinnikinick that was a mixture of tobacco, herbs, and possibly an early type of pot or hallucinogens.

Can we see a picture of it?

Sorry for the delay in posting these pics. Here is a sandstone pipe in my collection with what I believe to be an intentional hole in the pipe stem leading into the bowl:

very fine looking pipe, first one I've seen with a carb. Cool I could have used that back in 69

I dont know how you guys know so much about carbs.NC im pretty sure if you look in the hippy handbook smoking bud is mandatory. If you found a bong or roach clips with it id doubt its authenticity.Everybody knows bongs always get broke and would never last that long.Anyways great find love to find something like that....
