I found this down hill from what was reportedly a slaughter house at one time. Is there any chance it could have been a piece of a knife sharpening stone?

I'm not sure. Looks like a red, well used canon camera to me.





PS. That stone looks like schist. One side would be smooth if used to sharpen a knife...

Stuff I found on the Side of the road today.

The first pair of pics look like host-rock with quartz. Even some quartz crystals in the first?

The last one looks like host-rock with Mica. (again, refer to pegmatite, which can be "zoned")

Hello, I found this in southwest Texas 2 years ago and am just about ready to break it to figure out what it is. It's approx 8.5"×6.5"×4.5" high, weighing 17 lbs. It is too dense for sandstone and not granite. Very large agate by chance? The crazy banding made me think of agate and it was found in an area known for agate.

I had this rock for many years. Stepped on it in the water in Greece. Very heavy.



Here is another. Probably from New York area. Gray hard stone with white veins. The white material in the veins comes off with your finger.

I have some rocks from estate sale, only know the couple traveled all over and have hundreds of rocks.The gentlemen passed away 20 or 30 years ago and even tumbled his own rocks. I have some untumbled rocks. Here's some pics of my first one. It ways 55 grams

These were found near the same area of southwest Texas as my previous posted rock...any ideas on these as well? They are both really odd shaped in person like shellfish of some sort that petrified.

Break it open. Has a 'sandstone' look to it, or it might be the metamorphic cousin of sandstone called quartzite.

Uncertain of the first one. Some kind of carbonate?
Second one might be limestone. Looks sedimentary.
