Howdy All,

I haven't really saw a lot of quartz on the site. Admittedly, it is one of my least favorite point materials. Most of the points that I have found in quartz were pretty crude. I have been fortunate enough to find a few really nice ones. Here are some of my best Quartz points. Want to share your favorite quartz points? The two bottom left are bolen bevels and have a very nice bevel to them.

i don't think it is quartz but it is an unusual shape...most likely just an odd shaped arrow point

Larson, that' the point I was referring to that was to the right of the point on top of a coin. Looks like an early style maybe. It does resemble crystalline quartz but if you don't think so, it could be a chalcedony.

Just found a heartbreaker a couple hours ago, hunting in a new spot. This would have been beautiful complete. Still a nice find and definitely a good new area to hunt on my property. Going to head over to my regular spot now until the snow starts falling.

my thoughts were white petrified wood....i can see a wood type grain when i hold it up to the light
i will try to get you an image of it

i don't want to seem like i am taking over this thread but since you asked i hope it is OK with Louis Herz

can't figure out why it is so differently made than the reg arrow points we find here but we all know that there were no written rules
if i get you another image with back light let me know what you think?

Here's some quartz pieces I acquired while putting together my States Collection. They are mostly from the east coast and southeastern states, but there are two Triangles from Wisconsin, the Bifurcate in the 7th pic is from New Mexico, and the Corner Notch in the 19th pic is from Georgia.

Cool collection! :icon_thumright: Love that first one.

Hello,
Most of the points in two frames are sugar quartz otherwise known as Hixton silicifies sandstone. The material was quarried at Silver Mound more than likely. It is also the home of an increasing number of frac sand mines. The quartz is this sand that has been cemented together over the eons I suppose.

Thanks for looking,
Sidevalve45

You have a nice collection there! :icon_thumleft:

hey charl
is this the point you asked about?
maybe i have the wrong one?

NC You should put your quartz pieces on here.

Found this large crystal that has all it's edges ground off and tip has been rounded. Don't know what it could have been. Other crystals I have found in the field appear normal. This is the only altered one.

Hey Road Dog,
That's an interesting piece you have there. How thick is it?

Thanks,
Sidevalve45

If that wasn't field found I would say it had been creek tumbled.

A few of mine from North Carolina

37, some of the stuff I posted was VA. Artifacts. I also have 2 quartz adze bits, found in VA. And are among my favorite finds. I'll post them soon!!
