:hello:Hi,

Rain threat finally ceased, so I headed out late morning to seek my fortune.:hello2:

Did a bit of dry sand detecting as I waited for the tide to recede..not much found except an army of sand flies and sand fleas???...where's the Calamine lotion, please?

Finally moved out to ankle deep water among a rocky / pebbly area. Visibility was clear and I was able to see a group of smal sized rocks so I headed over and after hearing the target among the rocks, I removed a couple of rocks and dug out a thickly tarnished...(kind of oily surface tarnish) silver bracelet.

This type of tarnish is so very hard to clean..takes a lot longer than the crusty type tarnish, but I managed to clean it up.

Here's some pics of today's finds, and also a pic of a 1939 "Merc" found yesterday in low tide mud...quite good condition for where it was bedded.

thanks for looking at my finds.

You brought that bracelet back from the dead...nice find.

sweet bracelet - I would have been very happy to have got something like that today - HH Lorraine

SILVER! Love finding it (only 2nd to Gold). Congrats, Lorraine!:hello2:

Great job of cleaning too. It's about what I'd expect, less than a gram, for material lost.

Have you sold any of your silver? The refineries charge 10% which is kinda steep.

Great clean up Lorraine! WTG!

I've never seen silver look like that before, I wonder what caused it to look rusted? Regardless, you found a nice bracelet, so congrats!

What did you use to clean it?

Thank you, Jason:

That "rust" coating made me think at first that this bracelet was "junk", but then I realized that it was a non- corrosive adherent and it was not eroding the medal; I was able to brush that brown dusty coating away with a cloth ( my old raggedy detecting T-shirt at the scene :laughing7: ).

To clean the bracelet, I began with electrolysis, but soon realized that it would take too long with this "sticky, oily" type of tarnish, so I then placed it flat out in a container of Tarn-X and after about 3 minutes, I was able to scrub the tarnish away with a toothbrush and Baking soda. Then I shined it with Jewelery's rouge.
