Hurricane IAN check in thread

The clean up is not bad here....lots of leaves, and branches down, but not to bad. Im halfway through getting the boats back to normal. Breezy with sun and passing showers and storms.....soon it'll be time to detect !!

Our local power company is not playing around with this hurricane. They have within the last 24 hours let out 2.5 Feet of the lake waters getting ready. This is our Hydro-Electric Dam that makes the lake possible.

Saw this post this morning on LinkedIn. Always a terrible mess for so many these hurricanes are.
Man those guys are champs....were so lucky to have people like this !!

Great thread going here. Nice to see everyone so far is safe. Keep the post and pictures coming.

I feel for yall, we rode out Hurricane Michael in our house. Last report we got before losing power was it was going to be a Cat 3. Turned into a Cat 5, and it was too late to evacuate.

A pass for us is a hit for someone else, and that sucks. We just had the last of our repairs finished the beginning of this August. Yes Aug 2022 for a storm that hit Oct 2018.

If any of our members need anything, let us know how we can help.

It can be a long journey getting repaired and dealing with insurance. I got hit a couple years ago by a tornado. After the long and difficult road with my insurance company the repairs were completed a wind sheer took a large pine tree straight across my roof the next day. I am still fixing stuff.

Glad I’m not there…
My old house survived, Ft Myers
My Dads house is messed up real bad, Seminole Lakes in PG
My Moms house roof gone in Englewood
My Gram, her condo is ok
My kid lost his carport, roof damage in NFM
Bro in law, condo flooded, NFM

They all butt-hurt that I moved away after Irma.
Now they understand.

Wow dave.....you did good by missing out on that hurricane 🌀 party !!

faired well here in Melbourne. lots of tree debris, didn't lose power. prayers for those that didn't make out so good. My sister is in Ft Myers and has some minimal damage and a bit of flooding and of course no power but is alive and well.

Detecting day for me. Tomorrow I go with the feds to try and pick up cultural heritage for the state. I was able to team up with an FWC biologist, and im getting some sweet permissions. This one is on protected federal land, and artifacts have been exposed from beach erosion. Including shipwreck wood im told. Ill be on my own today at a spot that has yeileded both silver coins, and melted gold bits. There has been some real erosion down here !!
