I CRH because...

This is one of the most diverse groups on a forum that I have ever seen. Young, old, wealthy, broke, students, professionals, and engineers. I'm sure some guys on here have completely paid off their home.

So I've developed quite the curiosity. Why do the people on here, CRH?

Mine is a mixture of 2 things.
First, my love for collecting things, especially coins. My dad was a pilot when I was growing up and he would come home and give me all his foreign change that he had left over from his trip. I still have ALL of it to this day. My papa who has passed away once had me roll up all his pennies he had gathered from his antique glass water jug (the kinds we drink from at the doctors for example that are now plastic) so that he could turn them in at the bank. I believe these 2 seeds in my life are what developed the roots for my coin obsession.
Secondly, is my love for silver. I stumbled on the idea of investing in silver in 2007. Yes I was fortunate to buy it dirt cheap. Silver is one of those things I believed in with every ounce of my body back then, and still do, that it is absolutely going to pop. Then I discovered CRH on Youtube. Not only does CRH have both the things I have a fondness for (coins and silver), but I enjoy the idea treasure hunting. The idea of getting a chunk of silver at face value gives me a great feeling.

I don't do this for the money. I do it for the 2 things that have deep roots in me. That's why I am attracted to this hobby.

Why do you Coin Roll Hunt?

Dawg I like rollin' and I like real dough (Silver). That's why I coin roll hunt. I also like old as hell coins. I too like the variety of people on here. I keeps things cool.

I coin roll hunt for similar reasons, because I was given a coin by my great grandfather when I was about 6 or 7. A 1922 Peace Dollar He gave my sister a 1924 (which I now have.) Also in grade 5 we did a fundraiser for Heifer fund, so all the kids brought their change, which I got picked to roll, (didn't mind, better than science class!) And found out what a "wheatie" was, found a 1917 and a 1918, (and many other dates.) That sparked the Coin Collecting, since then I've been picking coins out of circulation. Found out about CRH in the beginning of the summer by looking on youtube, and now, I got the bug. I started with a few rolls of pennies, which was a lucky find, solid wheatie rolls. From there on in, it's been escalating ever since! The idea of silver for face, collector value for face, a story to tell my sister, mother, dad, friends, from a coin? Not bad! I love coin roll hunting, and am very proud I am involved in the hobby. It is a great way to make a nest egg for the future at age 15.

I dont exactly CRH yet, (mostly just all the coins in the house, but it ended up with me finding 2 wheats). I need to order me some of them bank boxes of coins. Probably going to do pennies and nickels, maybe quarters, but for now my bankroll is tiny.

Tiny bankroll? No big deal! start with pennies, and work your way up, I do not know your situation, but work for the money! Hard work can get you anything in life you wish to have.

We do it for the enjoyment of the hunt & to build up a savings. If not for CRHing we would not have been able to pay for unexpected expenses when they arose & we would have little savings, if any, for our future. Plus it's a hobby my husband & I enjoy doing together

Tiny bankroll? No big deal! start with pennies, and work your way up, I do not know your situation, but work for the money! Hard work can get you anything in life you wish to have.

Yeah it really does, I had a job this summer that really opened up some huge doors for me, plus work = money and you can never have enough honestly. Plus pennies have a nice red color sometimes and its killer, almost as good as silver.

I have been a collector for a few years now, but I was always looked a little bit more on the investment side of things. For example: I have bought a little bit more silver than my brother, also a collector, while he has bought more old coins or ones with a little bit more numismatic value. I knew that while CRH I could find old coins, but most would be junk silver, which is my favorite. Also I was board over the summer, which is what got me started.

It's since turned into a way to save "money", so to speak. I don't have a savings account, my savings are my coins and CRH finds. I CRH because it's wicked awesome. I've collected coins since I was 10 years old. My aunt instilled my interest in silver by buying me ASEs for birthday gifts each year. It never occurred to me until I stumbled upon this forum that there would be a significant amount of silver in circulation. I enjoy having a silver stash and adding to the collection.

Sometime you feel tired, feel weak, want to give up. But you gotta search within you and try to find dat inner strength and just pull that sh!t out of you and get that motivation to not give up and not be a quitter no matter how bad you want to fall flat on your face

That's actually good advice for me right now. Last Friday, 4 boxes of halves, 1 box of dimes, 1 box of quarters = All Skunk. Last Sixteen boxes of halves or so probably only found like 5 40%. I've got ALL my money in halves, dimes and quarters right now, and tomorrow is Friday , the last day to pick up all my orders (which this week just 8 boxes of halves). Still gotta go to work though. Gotta Dump all that coin, pick some more coin up. Its gotta happen otherwise my routine is shot and then forget about it. Also I've been.......no wait......don't say it.........Metal Detecting!!!

I echo alot of others here. I like the investment in silver, I collect coins and the thrill of the hunt is priceless. I started when I worked as a teller over 10 years ago. When I got skunked back then I would go buy silver halves at my LCS for $1.50-$2.00 each and just add them to the pile. It was also a good way for me to save money when I was a student.

I still can't get over how cool it is to pluck a walker or ben from circulation, it satisfies the feeling of a hunt to a large degree. Also the fact that for every $1 in silver we find right now we'll have $10 at some point in our lives! now growing money, that's cool

- Silver @ face value --> sold to acquire better coins & go on lavish vacations
- Hoarding it to feel like I actually OWN REAL MONEY
- The challenge / thrill of the hunt

Silver is money.

Amen. The way the Federal Reserve is devaluing our currency, silver is a great store of wealth to hedge against inflation. I CRH because I love the treasure hunt and if I buy the silver at face value I don't worry too much when the spot price declines. Not that I plan on selling anytime soon.
