IRON WARS continue with Iron Patch!

[The Patriot]

Well got out with hunthicks and another detectorist for what may be the last hunt of the year if we get the snow or a big freeze…Went to the site where I managed a spanish silver a few weeks back and first signal out was a Large cent…finds continued to come in, many in the form of buttons, but looking at hunthicks Navy button I was right to dig them…As most know myself and Iron Patch have a friendly IRON WAR thing going on to continue producing some nice old Iron… Well my first iron find was and old Iron or ironing clothes… not quite what I was looking for but figured my chances were low to come up with something…Found a nice old wolf's/fox head, Bank of Upper Canada token, a bird band which I will track down later tonight…an old button with the cloth still on the back, a tombac thimble and a acorn crotal bell (only my second one found)…Then we head out to try an old foundation the farmer mentioned to us and found some odds and ends like a musket ball and a few buttons and it was time to go…well if you know me, I'm always the last one out of the field and my very last signal of the day near the junky foundation gave me that distinct sound that I should dig…it was the sound of a cannon ball….I was right! Your next move IP….

[HomeGuardDan]

nice finds indeed... love the ball!

[Ahab8]

Great button and cannonball! You think the fella in the spandex suit can match that? Lol

[detectahead]

Very impressive! Love the "ball"!

[The Patriot]

I'm just hoping he wears it out again, but can't stay due to being too cold...

Great button and cannonball! You think the fella in the spandex suit can match that? Lol

[ironhorse]

You guys should have made bets on the poundage at the end of the year!

A few cannon balls will add up
The tombac thimble is something I've never seen, very cool, pic looks like silver

Yeah times winding down, we will give it a shot this week for another battle in "Iron Wars" XIV

[Mach1Pilot]

Nice cannon ball, and to dig it out of the last hole is awesome! And the tombac thimble is awesome too!

[pepperj]

Great day of digging, liking the finds for sure. What's the wolf's back like, is it just flat or did it have something on it so it could be attached?

Ah I think you're going to get a blast of fall as the temps here in Ont. for tomorrow are hitting in the mid teens.

Hard core hunters put the shovel away when the shovel isn't able to go in any longer, keep digging.

[CaptainCoil]

Nice hunt! That wolf head is cool!

[Iron Patch]

Quite a combination of stuff, and I call you the Iron Champ! ....because I want something different next time out!

[Lord Verdigris]

[Hunthicks]

You had a pretty good day, and waited to the last minute to snag the cannonball as we were already back to the car when we heard you haha. That area has really been kind to us, and I don't think it's done yet!

[BuckleBoy]

Sweet!

[cjon455]

Great hunt, I like that bank token and the wolf head is really unique

Great saves!

[romeo-1]

I'm in! Nice finds!

[The Patriot]

The wolf has a hollow back, likely pinned to clothing...

Great day of digging, liking the finds for sure. What's the wolf's back like, is it just flat or did it have something on it so it could be attached?

[The Patriot]

I've contacted the bird band office and they will email me all certificate, they don't mail anything out in paper form anymore…like everywhere, cutbacks….

[Greylock]

That ball is a killer find. Also like the tombac this and the wolf head.
