It's Old, And It's Gold. But What Is It?
I've been hitting a site that the targets are few and far between but when I get a signal, it's usually a good one. So far the coins have been a shield nickel, an 1803 Half Cent, a KGIII and many buttons.
Today I got a 12-4 reading on my CTX-3030 and dug this tiny gold at 6 inches. I thought it was a crushed children's ring at first until I was able to unflatten it a bit.
I have a feeling it's a gold band from an old quill pen or a fountain pen, but I'm hoping someone can give a positive ID on it. There are no markings on it, but it's definitely gold, and not a pencil eraser as someone else suggested!
