Detector(s) used
Ace 250
Last week I was vacationing in OC, MD, and I was detecting on the beach one evening. As you know, anytime you're out with a detector in public, someone is bound to ask, "Have you ever found anything?" Well, there was this boy, about 11 years old, who was fishing with his dad right in the area I was detecting and he came up to me and asked that very question. A few seconds after that I got a strong signal on my Ace 250. I sifted through the sand and found a quarter. Nothing special, just a quarter. The boy was standing there while I dug and when I pulled out the quarter, I flipped it to him and said, "Here you go." The boy got a big smile on his face and took the quarter over to show his dad who in turn, looked at me and smiled as if to say, "Thanks." Turns out, I found three more quarters in the same hole but none were worth the look I got from that little boy and his dad. One of the reasons I love this hobby!

Awesome...maybe you will see him on the beach next time you go to OC, MD. Great job.

You'll see the kid here in about 8 years, he may disappear for a bit soon after but will return for the long haul. Isn't that how it goes? Was for me.

be careful that 's how we procreate, by subversion LOL

Very nice story, it may have been just a quarter to us but maybe treasure for him! Way to go!

Those small things in life have far-reaching effects on a young person. Hopefully

Super nice job on the present. Kinda gave me a warm fuzzy feeling like that old Coke commercial when Mean Joe Green gives that kid his jersey.

Maybe he smiled to say thanks or maybe it was a smile like thanks for out schooling me on how to entertain my son. Now I have to spend $250 on a Ace 250 thanks buddy... ;D :D I have given curious children my finds before but this raises a sensitive subject. Do people really want us giving their children things? :icon_scratch: I imagine some people would think its creepy. :icon_scratch:

So I don't know if I will again....
What do you guys think ???

Keep @ it and HH!!

that's a good question. some people don't want strangers even talking to their children let alone give them something

I have done this 2 or 3 times and I always look for the parents first and make sure I have their eye. If I don't see them, he or she gets nothing!

OH YEAH! He'll remember that forever!

I've had kids get all excited over bottle caps!

Very nice story
Last week I was at the beach and a Middel Eastern woman and a small boy maybe 5 or 6 years old came up to me. The boy asked what I found, I dug it up, it was a foreign coin so I gave it to the kid. His mother told the boy no (he got a sad look on his face), I said it was alright. She said "but that is what you are looking for" I said it was alright. The little boy got a huge smile all across his face and his mother thanked me like 10 times. That made my day.
