MEGA silver hunt and some MORELS!!! (another half - my 1st ever Walker)

treasurefiend · Apr 28, 2011

Went out with DDub & Lookn4seated this morning for a long 6+ hour hunt and we found lots of oldies!!! We started out mushroom hunting and we found a few tiny grey morels but we decided to swing the coils for a bit. My 1st old coin for the day was another half dollar, this time it was a Walker (my 1st ever) and the back has rainbow toning!!! The 1st pix is of everything we found (I go over each of the silver's dates in the video) my finds are in the pix below the group finds pix.

we found something along the lines of
3 IH's
40 wheaties
15 silvers
& 12 Morel Mushrooms

Re: MEGA silver hunt and some MORELS!!!

Nice job on the silver and enjoy those morels! The black ones have been up around here for a couple weeks and the big white ones should be up soon.

Nice large silver. My mushroom hunting days would end on the first bite. Then I'd get a chance to detect 6 feet below the surface.......

Uh-hem. That's not detecting. It's called mining.

COngrats on that half bud. I can't believe I walked right past it. I must've heard it and thought it was a can top there......
I'm such a hipocrit...because I always tell everyone don't pass those up, they can be a shallow half.....and what do you find....not one, but two shallow half....jeez, one was so shallow it was even on the surface.

But in all reality, I probably never put my coil over it. Glad you did though. One heck of a year on large silver for you this year bud. :notworthy:

Why did you cut the first take? :icon_scratch:

lol no h*#o!

Looks like a great hunt with some good friends.
Haven't seen a morel for many many years......here in S. Korea I find several kinds of medicinal
mushrooms. And did find one that looked like a morel, except it was really gross looking.....so I
left it. As for silver, I see them about as often (here) as I do the morels. The Koreans never had
silver until the late 1890s. And they didn't loose many. BUT.....their holed coins....I find some of
them almost every time out.
Enjoy the taste of the mushrooms.....and have some more great hunts. :icon_sunny:
