Good Afternoon
I have been a fan of this site for about a year now. After 28 years in the military I bought a house, settled down in Alabama and decided to get back into metal detecting. I bought a Fisher F75 special edition and haven't looked back. I live on a golf course so on days it's closed I hunt the cart paths, natural areas and around the lakes. Well today it's closed and I decided to go for a little hunt, I usually find lots of quarters, dimes and penny's but never anything old. I started hunting around this old pine tree right outside my back gate and with in a few minutes I got a 100% dime hit about 10 inches down. Dug it up and out popped this beauty, man my fire is lit after 6 months of finding lots of modern coins. It looks like it was dropped right after it was minted. I am addicted for life NOW! 155 years old-man that's cool.

A beautiful almost mint 1859 Liberty Seated Dime.

That's a beauty!!! Congrats, and happy hunting!

That is one beautiful coin Aviator! It doesn't get much better than that. I'm still waiting for my first seated coin, maybe this season ( if the ground up here ever thaws out).

Very nice i would be hunting that tree till I was sure there was nothing else. I love my f75 also, but been looking at the t2 also. Thanks for posting.

Man what a find. Congratulations!!

Man what a find. Congratulations!!

Thanks everyone
The crazy thing is I hunt the same areas every week to see what the golfers dropped and always find $2-3 in change.
I must have missed this spot right up next to the tree, it just goes to show you theirs treasure with in inches of your coil.
I hunted the tree for a good hour after finding that dime.

Question: the soil here in montgomery is clay and packs real hard in the summer so I assume my detector will not penetrate it as much?

We have had a lot of rain lately so could it have loosened up the soil and allowed the detector to penetrate deeper?
Thanks.

That is one awesome coin in fantastic condition! There's no turning back now, your addicted to MD'ing!, welcome! Definitely pay close attention to that area! GL. HH!

Stunning, Congrats man!

Congratulations - Wooo-Hoooo! :occasion14:

Wow that is a beauty. Crisp and good details.

Yes sir, a beautiful Seated dime indeed! Damp, moist soil is more conducive to finding smaller and deeper targets, probably why you didn't get it 'till now. Welcome to T-net!!!

Thank you
I knew I had checked that area before, or at least I thought I had.
Sometimes I get very slight beep/tones that don't always register after every pass but with all the rain lately I seem to be able to fine coins much easier-after a good ground balance.
The ground can get so hard here you need a pick axe to dig it.
It's raining again, I hope it stops for a late afternoon hunt.....haha

Beautiful looking seated.

very nice, gz! :icon_thumleft:

Great machine and beautiful coin! They don't come out of the ground like that very often and when they do it's a real treat. Congrats

Stunner! Still looking for my first seated. Congrats and keep working that ground balance and faint signals.

Awesome FIND!!!
