The border machines are working a little harder as the Canadians are going over to buy tickets. BECAUSE WE DO NOT PAY TAXES ON LOTTERY WINNINGS With the exchange rates right now the lottery is worth 2.1 billion Canadian.

I was thinking about how miserable that would be. Biggest lottery winner in the world. you couldn't ever hide. You'd literally have to hole up in a gated community for a while... or live on a yacht... Wait. Maybe that's not so miserable.

But... I don't think I could get nearly as excited about a 2 gram 14K ring while metal detecting. That would ruin the hobby for me, knowing I had $400M in a bank account drawing interest. I'd have to find something else to do to entertain myself. Probably take up teaching again.

Now that would be a real challenge, teaching now days!
At lest you could afford to pay them to learn, might work, they have tried just about everything else.

I really don't know what I would do if I won, there' s the obvious, pay bills, etc. Vacation maybe, but where? You'd practically need security everywhere you go. You'd have to shop on line.

Well I hope somebody wins cause I'm tired of throwin money away in this lottery pool at work. I suppose if I did win my first concern would be security. I would say nothin to nobody until I got my family far away from here to a safe location. It would be fun to stay at work for a while just to rub it in on all the losers, but I would have it set up to make a quick fade out when I claimed the money. The only really fun thing I would get out of it would be to walk into my bank with a check for millions and tell them to deposit that in checking and I would like a million cash back. (You don't wanna do that, but it would be fun to see the looks on their faces.)

Yes, absolutely that's the way it would have to be done.
You would need a lawyer you can trust too.
All that would require a little time to set up.
Also they review video of the time frame when the ticket was sold. So they have a pretty good idea what you look like.

I won't be losing any sleep tonight over the drawing either.

Trust me, you're paying taxes. Just not on the winnings. LOL

Oh we pay our fare share of taxes, lottery is zero-then the interest earned is taxed. Sin taxes are some of highest in the western world.
I have no problem with folks loading up their cards and spending cash for the lotto purchases over the line, everyone is looking for that dream to come true.

Interesting that you say that as many wealthy folks detect and get excited over the finds still. I was trying to think of an example of who is pretty well off and the one that comes to mind is Bill Wyman net worth 80 million, detects, and sells them also so the passion must be there. Going back to teaching? With the winnings you could set up a trust/bursary for kids that have a passion to learn the subject that you're teaching.

I TOLD YOU MISS BEEPBEEP ALREADY... I've bought several tickets and used the SAME number. This lowers my tax rate.... and as long as the OTHER folks "play" along everything will work out just right. It's a done deal.... I'm finding a movie to watch soon, fall asleep and take care of business tomorrow morning.... It's all arranged already....

i guess if i did win i could give you some toolmanbutch,but i do not think it would make you happy,if you want everything you will never be happy.being able to give instead of take is so much better.my two kids taught me this.
