Question on home protection firearms

How long is the sentence for home invasion?
Most states consider home invasion a felony. The general jail sentence can vary from 5 to 20 years. It depends on the degree of the home invasion. 1st degree is the worst. It usually involves the use of a weapon along with breaking and entering.

Exactly what I stated. Most burglars know this fact, so they do not carry a weapon.

What is robbery versus burglary?
Burglary and robbery both involve a property. They both also describe some type of theft. Robbery occurs in a home while you are present. The criminal usually uses some type of force or threat. Burglary occurs when you are not home. The criminal unlawfully enters your home with the intent to steal something.

How many homes are robbed each year?
The DOJ reported 1 million burglaries occurred with people in the home. 27% of them became victim of a violent crime

Burglaries and robberies are explained, yet they still can't get it right. If a burglary happens and you are home, it is a robbery.

Guns save and have saved more lives than taken.......fact.

12ga will give a better choice of rounds, it's hard to beat 12ga 000 buckshot. HH

1.03 million home invasions a year in America
3.7 Million homes burglarized a year Over 25% of victims being physically assaulted and or raped.

Note the word "Weapon", What now days is not a weapon? That is just an add on that is used as a negotiating tool with criminals.

Give it up, TH. Some people are just born victims and then sadly choose to continue to be so. You cant make a man want to defend himself. Hopefully they only lose their money or virginity.

"My wife is a bit skittish now as well as I” Skittish people with guns makes me nervous.

Exactly why the training with professionals is on the to do list.

It want turn ugly, it is in the general forum and subject to all TNet rules. Mods will not let it turn ugly.

It is each person's individual right to decide how they chose to protect their family, their property and their lives. It is not like I don't know self defense either

I took Taekwondo for 12 years, earned a 2nd degree black belt and fought full contact in class 3 times a week for over 7 years. I'm not as young or as fast as I once was now though, too slow to run, too old to fight so I will just shoot any attackers. Florida has "Castle law" and "Stand Your Ground" law too.

This fearfulness must be regional. People aren’t walking around scared where i live. Its not even part of the conversation. Call it la-la land if you like but fear can consume and distort reality.

I don't know where you live
I have never been afraid since I was a kid.
I do see people here carrying however (Indiana)

Back on topic.

Fish1on, don't forget to figure out how to store your house gun. After all you don't want a burglar to just find it and shoot you. Its all a compromise, you need to be accessible, you also need to deny others access.

Being burgled is a term that may or may not involve life being threatened.
However ,I reserve the right to defend my life if it is threatened by anyone with the means and ability.
What I defend it with is who's business? Ain't no one but me defending it.......so , good night.

My firearm is just another tool in the toolbox to defend myself and family if necessary. No one is walking around paranoid and afraid. I don't live by the gun.

No one cares what you feel the need to do to protect yourself. The OP was asking for opinions and he got them. End of story.

You are right Escape, I am very timid. However I am also armed. Being unarmed yourself, maybe you can take your fearlessness with you. Like if your house gets robbed and the perpetrator kills you-

"Here lies Escape"
"------Fearless-------"

You should be more afraid of a house fire or slipping in the bath tub and cracking your skull then a burglar entering your house and shooting you. This is all fear based. People are afraid and their is always someone to tell you why you should be scared. (Not saying that everyone who carries falls into that category, but it is a category with a significant number of people.)
