I hit the farm spot today at lunch where I dug the cannonball piece yesterday.
The idiot that I am, I forgot to bring a pick and bigger shovel. I did bring the Lesche tool with me though to saw through some roots. It actually worked fairly well.
I'm not sure if I dug relics or junk today, but there is a lot more in that spot still.
The mound of stones is about 2 feet higher than the rest of the surface around it, and it is roughly 20' by 10'. It is next to a large oak, and there is a 6' round deep indentation next to the oak. I will try to carry my camera out there next time to get some pictures.
*The larger metal piece you see with the lip at top is brass, not iron.
*One of the other pieces comes to a sharp edge.
*The draw knife I found yesterday, but picked it up today.
*I found two rings today on this mound. No ringers attached fortunately.
One is a small size 5.5 copper (?) ring with scroll or flower design. (Junk?)
The other I'm not sure if it is a man's ring or not. It is a size 8.5 and is made of brass.
There is no engravings on it. Is this jewelry? Did they wear brass rings?
Any info on anything would be appreciated. It's still hot and fairly humid here in these parts. I may go out Saturday and do a longer hunt.
Have a great weekend,
MM
