SC state seal button, Trilby , & 196? small cent

Seems like I always run out of time at night to post. :'( Here's some finds from the last few days at the plantation house.
I found a nice South Carolina state seal button today at lunch, and a 3-ringer only about 10 feet away. Ya-hooo.
Here are my goodies:

*South Carolina state seal button (23mm). "Horstmann & Allien/NY" back mark. (Alberts book SC14)
This is kind of a unique one in that the word "Opibusque" in the motto is misspelled as
"Opirusque".

*20mm "Plated" back mark flat button.
*21mm "Double" back mark flat button.

*3-ringer

*Old pocket watch chain.

*"TRILBY" cast iron vent piece from a wood stove.
Any idea on the age?
*Tiny copper bell with hash mark design on both sides. (It polished up nicely too)

*A 196? memorial small cent. :D Someone must have been bored and trimmed this sucker down.

*Asst's buckles / clips.

*Old barbed wire piece.
I've never seen this style before. Any idea on the age?

Me and two other TN members will be hitting the place again on Saturday. (They better not find a reale :D )

Thanks for looking.

WTG on the South Carolina button, that is a keeper for sure! I personally like your little bell, besides the button, that is one neat find and great for display. Glad it cleaned up so nicely.

Thanks Don. I have no idea how old this little bell is, but I found it in front of the old carriage house. It has the little ringer inside, but it is iron, and is rusted to the side of the bell. :'(
You're right, this will look great in one of my displays.

Great stuff my friend,
Nick

Nick,
I figure you were probably in the kitchen creating another "knock you socks off" recipe. I can still send you my tater tot casserole recipe if you'd like. :D

When I dug up that button I thought of you and our contest. I could tell right away this was no eagle button though.
No LC's yet though. :'(
If you win, I'll pay you in old barbed wire.

Awesome button Doug. You always find such a nice array of relics. I found a stove piece like yours on my last hunt also but not nearly as nice as that one. good find.

Re: SC state seal button, Trilby , & 196? small cent

What!!! No silver or gold? Maybe tomorrow when Bill and I are with you.

Great looking stuff, though.

I adore that little bell.
Can't wait to see that old stove piece when you are finshed cleaning and mounting it! That will rock!

Bob,
I hope so. I'm overdue for some silver. I may take to the woods some tomorrow to piss off a few snakes. :o
Get some sleep. You're going to need your rest to swing that Mighty Minelab all day. Your arms will look like the Hulk when we are finished.

Dang! I get offline long enough to swing a detector for a bit and I miss a FANTASTIC post like this from you? This is a GREAT hunt for you, MM! The button is is a wonderful piece! I got so excited when I saw the first picture and the spur piece... I only missed the ID on this by 20 hours LOL! So if you need just one more person saying that it's part of a spur, I'll be MORE than happy to be that person. Hey dude. You found a piece of a spur. :D That, my friend, is a great find! Here's one I dug. Different style, but still CW. That CW collection of yours is taking off! Keep making us uMax users proud.

LMAO! :D No problem Will. You got to swing too. :D
I'm happy as all get out to find the spur piece. I thought I had a small buckle at first. Nice green patina too.
I can't believe how fast I'm filling up a relic display from this site already. I dug an Enfield with a "57" in the base today at lunch.
Again, this find was in the horse pasture only a few inches deep. I'll post it with my Saturday finds (if I find something that is :D ). The pastures have turned up some nice finds so far. The Umax loves relics as you know.
Have a great weekend.

Yes Doug, that uMax can pull some relics out of the ground. I like the way it's so stable around small iron. Such a breeze to hunt with.

I look forward to your Saturday post. As long as you post it at 10pm, I'll be able to look it over for all of those AWESOME CW relics that will be hiding in your photos... :o

I'll be out again tomorrow too.

Regards,

Buckles

Absolutely PERFECT hunt!!! Can't think of anything better
to have found besides that button and those sundries!!!
You must have detectors for feet, because everywere you
walk, you find good relics!!!
