Hey guys, got out for a short hunt today. My brother suggested I hit a park he's detected before where he's found a silver ring and other things before. I was working all day and didn't get out til around 6:15 which gives me about an hour of light left before it gets too dark.

So I got to the park and didn't find anything expect for clad and endless amounts of pull tabs.

I got a signal about 3 inches deep that sounded like an average dime signal. In the hole was a tiny ring that fit about halfway down my pinky. It looked gold when I popped it up but I was skeptical because the signal didn't match. But then, I saw a marking on the inside and my hope increased!

I continued detecting for about 30 minutes before I left. When I got home, I cleaned the dirt off and saw some number markings on the inside. I'm gonna take it to the jeweler tomorrow to confirm but I'm 99% sure it's gold!

EDIT: jeweler says it's 24 karat gold!

Gold sure shouldn't be a dime signal at that size. What numbers and letters are inside? Hope it is the real deal for you.

The inside says .999 and there's another mark on the inside that's too small to read. The number makes me seem a little skeptical but I'm hoping I didn't get teased

Super awesome find!! I hope someday I can hit gold with high vdi while coins shooting like that. So cool!

Well 999 is 24K. Really hope it is the real deal. Looks great as everyone has said. The dime signal has me really puzzled. Maybe another target was hiding in the hole you missed? What does it ring up out of the ground?

I sure hope it is the real deal also. That would be awesome!

Please tell us what detector you were using. ID'd as a dime, inquiring minds want to know!

Maybe something else in the plug too? I could see myself being so busy with my happy dance that would have forgotten to recheck the hole... :D

Scubadetector. Apparently you have never found pure 24k gold. I have a pure gold ring that was deep and giving me a quarter signal and I have a 24k gold pendant that is bent in half that hit like a copper memorial.
I have a friend with a .9999 marked gold ring and same thing, it hit high tone. he uses an older Minelab explorer and I found both my 24k items with the at pro.
Pure gold is a better conductor and hits like silver/copper compared to the alloy's of lower K gold.

AWESOME FIND! Grats to ya!

The detector I use is a whites DFX ECLIPSE 950 and it says gold can ring up anywhere between about a +10 to a +75 which is around what it rang up as. I weighed the ring and it's 4 grams

Congrats on a sweet little find!

You are 100% correct. Highest karat I have ever found is 22K. So I am not an expert by any means nor do I know what detector he uses. I have found hundreds of gold rings though. I just thought it was not the norm. We ALL have experiences that make us question what others find or post. However as long as we ask questions and TRY TO LEARN WITHOUT calling someone a liar we will learn and understand.

I learned something new and I am indeed happy the OP was able to get it verified and now he knows for sure. I have found a LOT of fake gold that is marked. I can only relate to what I have learned.

Sweetness!!!
Congrats!!!!
