Silver @ face and other keepers log

I hope you are surprised to find a loaded box today and bust this skunk streak wide open.

Well unfortunately I wasn't able to finish off the month with any silver.

4/28:
$70 mwr halves: skunk
$500 half box #35: skunk

And it was a slow month overall for me but I did manage to find a small assortment of good keepers including my third 1913 T1 buffalo in just the past year and a half or so, my third Walker of the year and my first silver commem find ever which was my best find of the month.

April 2014 Totals:

Nickels:
3 buffalos: '13(P) T1, '28, '36S,
6 silver: '42S, 3 x '43P, '43D & '44P
'05P bison detached leg error

Halves:
2 x 90%: 1893 Columbian Expo commem & '35S Walker
5 x 40%: '65, '67, 2 x '68D, '69D

You had some interesting finds in April. Glad you found some teller tray silvers today. Keep on rolling.

Looks like a memorable April to me! I'd be happy with those finds any month! I'm still hunting for my first Walker. Maybe this month will be the month.

GL and HH!

Well, I just finished searching a great 1% keeper Dunbar box I got on Friday 5/2. The box sure was a fun box to search and included my first 90% ender - a '64D Kender - and 9 x 40%ers. This was my best box in almost exactly 2 months. On March 3rd of this year I found a great 20 keeper box (2 x 90% & 18 x 40%) which was my 2nd best box ever and interestingly that box was exactly twice as good as my 10 keeper box yesterday.

I also found an interesting half dollar error coin (details posted on another thread) and a few silver keepers on Thursday 5/1. So in just the first 2 days of May I've already found more silver than I found in the whole month of April. I sure hope my good luck continues the rest of the month. :)

5/1:
$1.50 loose halves: 2 x 40%: '66 & '67 (4th pic below)
$500 (String) half box #36: '64 Ken - in third roll from the end (3rd pic below) & 2 x '87D - one rev ender & one in the very last roll
$500 (String) half box #37: skunk - just an interesting '71D error (or PMD Idk)

5/2:
$500 (Dunbar) half box #38: 1 x 90% ('64D Kender)
...........................................9 x 40% ('65, 2 x '66, 3 x '67 & 3 x '68D)
...........................................
clad '06S reverse ender

Great start to the month, SF! Gotta love finding those enders $

It's great that you got a nice 1% box and that error coin is cool. Keep on rolling

Thanks guys. Its sure nice finding some $ilver again and that last box sure was fun to search. Its kinda interesting how much fun it is to search a box with just 1% $ilver.

And Im hoping to get at least one more Dunbar box from that same bank next week and more boxes from that bank every week from now on if I can. So Im sure hoping I can find more good boxes like that one. :)

Btw, I was just figuring my half box average so far this year. Thanks to that last 1% keeper box I still have just over a 2% silver keeper per half box average so far this year: 80 silver keepers from 38 half boxes =
2.10 $ilver keepers per box. :)

Well I finished the week off with $50 in nickels I got on Saturday. I found a no date type 2 buffalo in the next to last roll and I also found a really damaged unusual '94P nickel. It's severely scratched and worn and looks like it has a really thick wide rim all around the obverse of the coin for some reason. But it has a normal rim and is damage free and in pretty nice condition on the reverse. So Im wondering if its an error coin with PMD also. :icon_scratch:

5/3:
$3 loose halves: clad
$50 mwr nickels: no date type 2 buff, 2 x '39, 4 x '40's, 2 x '50's, 2 x '09P, '09D, interesting PMD/error '94P

Well I started off the week with two skunk boxes on Monday but I did manage to find a couple of keepers on Tuesday. So I've now found 80 silver keepers from my first 40 half boxes so far this year which gives me an exact 2 silver keeper per box average so far in 2014. I should have 2 or 3 more half boxes to p/u this week so Im hoping for a little more silver before the week is through.

5/5:
$.50 loose half: clad
$500 (String) half box #39: skunk
$500 (String) half box #40: skunk

5/6:
$20.50 loose halves: skunk
$30.00 mwr halves: 2 x '69D
$50.00 mwr nickels: skunk - just 2 x '39, 6 x '40's, 10 x '50's, 2 x '09P, '09D & one foreign coin of unknown origin

That's awesome, 2 40 % from 3 mwr half dollar rolls. I wonder what the entire box may have produced!

Yeah, I wish they had more rolls at that bank. They were the yellow and white String rolls like I usually get from my boxes. And both the '69D's were in the same roll. I have an account at the bank I got those 3 mwr's from and I've never ordered halves from that bank before but I was thinking about maybe seeing if I could order a box from there sometime soon.

Well, I finished the week with nothing but skunks. Kinda strange all 5 of my flat String half boxes this week were skunks but I found 2 x 40% from just 3 loose String mwr's I got from another bank - oh well. Should have 2 half boxes to p/u Monday.

5/8:
$500 (String) half box #41: skunk (clad '92S, clad '76S)
$500 (String) half box #42: skunk
$500 (String) half box #43: skunk (clad '07S)

5/9:
$100 nickel box: skunk ('39, 9 x '40's including a '47 lamination error?, 22 x '50's including an AU '59(P), 3 x '09P)
$100 bill: 1934A in fairly decent condition (bought at dump bank)

Im gonna try and sell the '34A $100 bill at my LCS on Monday.

i like the 100$ bill, i always keep my eye out for older bills as well. sorry to hear the streak continues.. i had a similar thing happen where i got like 6 MWR and got like 4 silver.. wish i could of seen that whole box, thats the way it goes. i wish you luck with todays pick up! HH

Well, I wasn't able to get those two boxes from my main p/u bank on Monday like I had planned -so I'll just get them on Thursday. But today I stopped by that bank I found 2 x 40% from 3 mwr's last week and I was surprised to find they had a whole box I was able to buy. And while I was there I also placed an order for a box next week so hopefully I have a new p/u bank now. And the box I got from there today was a good one - it had 2 Bens and 3 x '68D Kens. And the first Ben I found was almost a Bender too - it was the next to the last coin in the roll. Im still hoping to find my first Bender sometime soon.

Here's my results so far this week:

5/12:
$210 cwr & re-rolled mwr halves: skunk

5/13:
$1 loose halves: clad
$500 (String) half box #44: 2 x 90% ('60D Ben & '62 Ben) & 3 x 40% (3 x '68D)

H$H!

Nice franklins and an almost bender. I had a mender in my dime box. It was pretty warn out but it's always nice to find a mercury.

We are not finding 20-30 coins a box but we are finding stuff. Keep on rolling.

Yeah it was sure nice seeing some silver today...esp 2 Bens. And congrats on the merc.

good finds from a String box...just when I thought I had had my share of skunk String boxes, you go and give me hope they're still viable.

Yeah my 5 String half boxes last week from two p/u other banks were all skunks too. I cant keep track of who all the different carriers are anymore at the different banks I p/u from these days so I just refer to the boxes as either String (flat boxes) or Dunbar (square boxes) to at least differentiate the type of boxes they are. I hope I have more good luck in the future with these String boxes at my (hopefully) new p/u bank. Good luck to u too.
