You and me both. When I started it I figured it would definitely go into summer. I have to just keep plugging along. The next thing I have to do is switch vises. These small revolvers are not shaped well and I have to use a vise with special attachments to hold it.

I added a small crown to the backstrap.

This is the vise I bought in Italy. The type most commonly used over there. It works well for shotguns and rifles but is not so good with handguns. I actually carried this home on my carry on bag!

This is my heavy duty jewelers vise. Made in the USA. It weighs 30 lb and has numerous attachments for odd shaped items. I use both vises.

I cut the designs on the left side and I’m ready to start inlaying.

I ran out of gold wire yesterday. I need to order more. I’ve inlayed 44” of 24K .35mm wire so far. About $11/inch. Another 24” should be enough. Maybe. With the scrolls already cut the inlaying is fairly easy. Kind of like paint by numbers.

I’m almost finished with left side of frame. It needs just a bit more polish to make inlays completely flush. I put it together for a sneak preview. I’ll start on the other side this week. It’s coming along okay. No problems so far.

Yes, it will eventually be all blue. Since the cylinder was finished I took it along with another gun I had blued. I wanted the owner to get a peek at what it will look like when finished.

It’s a M-36 Chiefs Special. Made in the early 60s. This is the only Internet forum I go to.

I haven’t updated this thread for a while but I’ve still been slaving away.

I now have to inspect everything and touch up the polish here and there. Also need to sign my name. I figured when I started this project it would extend well into summer. And here we are. I started this thread April 11 so right at 3 months. I worked 1.5-2 hrs a day. Maybe 4-5 days a week. This will probably be my last big engraving project. I’m going back to being retired!😎

That's a long process of engraving that you've put into this project.
Would a 100 hrs cover the job?
