So still in shock here guys, was out detecting an old road looking for a colonial spot we though was close and got a solid 24 on my Equinox 800. Dug down about 5" and saw this laying in the hole. Can't remember much after that but my buddy said I was jumping up and down and yelling "Holy S---" over and over - when I finally calmed down I just said "gold" and opened my hand to show him .... his mouth just dropped

It is HUGE and she is a beaut!!

Amazing! You see a lot of gold coins turn up out west, but not so much in Pennsylvania.
I have been hunting 35 years and if I don't find one soon, I never will :laughing7:

Nice gold coin big congrats brother.

Hope to see one in my life time. I can't for the life of me understand why I haven't found one yet.

They are just really hard to come by. Maybe one day I keep hope but will always hunt even if I never see a gold coin in a hole.

thanks Steve - yes me too it's been 30+ years and I seriously couldn't believe it when I saw it in the hole, I always dreamt of the colonial stuff in PA, reales, flowing hair coins, GW buttons, colonial silver etc but never really gave gold a thought as it was such a stretch ... but after seeing such a large gold coin come out of the ground, now i wonder how many smaller gold coins i might have walked over with their lower #'s ??

yours is out there though!!

Lol Thanks,

Yeah I like to think how many deep scratchy signals I've passed by as junk but who know could have been smaller denomination gold coins.

To see a 10 dollar come up would really make me a believer. I know a few guys in my city who have turned up a few in our parks.

One guy I ran into had a video of him finding a 5 dollar gold coin mixed with a seated dime and indian head in the same hole.

They are out there for sure. Good luck with your future visits to that site.
