You've got to get up to snuff on your history.....Lachine was discovered in the late 1600's by the Sieur de LaSalle....
unfortunately the vessel they used at the time couldn't get pass the rapids nearby.....so that's where they made camp and settled.
btw part of his mandate from the King of France at the time was to find a westerly trade route to China ergo Lachine
is the French name for China.....so a bit of colonial era joke ended up as the name of the city I currently live in.
