Seek and you will find!

Frank:
That was one of the few times I've used "triangulation" to solve a problem.
Where a[SUP]2[/SUP] + b[SUP]2[/SUP] = c[SUP]2 [/SUP]
And it helped that they constructed three markers the same way, for the points of the triangle.
Old Pythagoris made it easy to find the third one, and from there it was just a matter of following that old trail to the hole between the rock piles....one with a cross and one without.

When we get the chance, maybe in October, we'll have to see if Euclid or Proclus can help us find the rest of it.

We have Jacob S. Wisner (carpenter) who was with F Company, 54th Infantry, Illinois...
and the same Jacob S. Wisner who filed for a Civil War Pension in May of 1891 from Arizona...
and a Jacob Wisner who held stock in the Farmer's Irrigation Company in Yuma A.T...
and now Jacob S. Wisner's final resting place.
It is a long way from the Superstitions but here he is, the same Jacob S. Wisner resting in Broome County, New York. I think that there is more to this story than understood.

Sorry if this has already been found and posted. I dont really know much about the LDM legend. I merely skimmed through this thread and found it interesting. Since its late and I love research I thought I would poke around and research a few of the names from this thread. I found the following images related to the Wisner mentioned in the quote. I don't think they add much to the story but its kinda cool seeing the actual documents. These are the front and back of the VA pension payment cards. Its kinda hard to read in some places but it looks like it has his exact death date.

Why? Yes, why? Why do anything so "theatrical" and secretive in nature?
Any explanation that I could offer would only be a guess.
What about you? You and your Masonic friends in that little cabin up north way.
When you gentleman are not busy making toys for children, what do you do with your spare time?

You are making the assumption that what is "there" can be "dug up". I am just not sure yet.

One thing about your search area. Most, I am told, can be soil sampled.
A good sampling can validate your site and, in turn, your efforts. It might even go a long way to help in that eventual conversation with park officials.
That will not be easy.

My search area has been professionally sampled, with good results.
So, naturally, I believe that I am on the correct path.

Secretive yes, theatrical no.
In our spare time, we look for things misplaced by others, not yet found.
Things under unusual rock piles or piles of unusual rock.
That's why I wouldn't bother hiking out to the "pit mine".
I would let the archaeologists do any soil sampling and screening. I just want to see what's laying around and stored inside.
If what was inside is still there !

Regards:SH.

Yes Wayne

The mysteries of the wilderness are unfolding before those on the TRUE PATH while the profane stumble on down a false trail of their own making.

Hal I've run into and talked to the park officials who are a great bunch. When you speak the same language it's easy to talk to someone. Their guidance was welcome on several occasions. There is more than one type of brotherhood.

garren,
Thanks for sharing that. I have been wanting to finish my posts about Wisner, but don't ever seem to find the time. This is the same man that I believe may be the actual Wisner from legend. Did you know that he was exhumed and reburied in his current resting place? I will try to finish posting what I have this weekend. These three images belong together and might be worth looking into. I believe that Emma Fox may have been Wisner's daughter.
Again, welcome and thanks for sharing.

I did not know that you belonged to that club a fraternal organization like the Freemasons.
Ritualistic ...Histronic...might be a better word.

I don't belong to any club, Hal. And I don't do rituals.
Too much a "my way" type, I guess.
But now and then we work together for our mutual benefit.
And history can be made from a single handshake. At least that's the way I see it.

It looks like your right about this. You may already have this document but I'll post it just in case you need it. Its from New York county marriage records.

I see.
I hope that you will keep us posted as it all unfolds.
Your success will bring quite a bit of hope to more than a few people.

garren,
It would be amazing if this were the correct Wisner. I am holding out hope that it may be despite what has been written on the subject. Just too much there to ignore. Anyway, great work!
It did not end well for Jacob.

Jacob seems to have always been on the move. Others attached to this legend had found a way to settled down (more or less), and in one general area.
But his whole life, Jacob is moving only to find himself home at the end.
Jacob's diary(s) would make a decent read... even if this one is the wrong man.
Who knows, his belongings may be packed away in some attic trunk.

Keep going!

If you're fishin Hal, try another bait.
Your "Freemasons" don't even look real to me.
Is Histronic's what makes them metal detectors work so good ???
But if you mean Histrionics...then I've got a whole bunch of P/M's from a while back, fulla that kinda stuff.

Poor ole Jacob. He wouldn't have even made a good prospector. Haha.. according to the following documents, he was blind in one eye and couldn't see out of the other! It also looks like he spent some time in Texas...ironically only one county over from me. His diary or journal might be stashed away somewhere just a few miles from here. Who knows?...and yes even if he is the wrong Jacob, it's all interesting!

Not fishing my friend...just looking for clarity. After reading your posts for a few years now, I believed you to be an independent thinker. Your post about that group and your connection to it was a surprise and honestly a disappointment.

With that said, what I think about you and that group means very little, so I will keep those thoughts to myself.

Your about to make history and I think that is just great.

Has anyone read the Lost Story of the Dutchman?

Jim

SH, coffee first again. You posted --> history can be made from a single handshake. At least that's the way I see it.

As a matter of fact, I am working with that principal right now on Tayopa. A simple hand shake made the agreement.

I have been told many times that this can never work today, we shall see --sides I am an expert pistolero :laughing7:
