Ladyfriend wiped out on the floor yesterday.... Nothing broke? Here's hoping a hip is unscathed.
(Had a fractured vertebrate too not long ago.)
Letting her rest.
I've no instructions for putting the turkey breast in the oven , so ,dinner will be late. Which is fine. If it's before midnight , it's still Thanksgiving.
Weather looks good for sneaking out for a hunt tomorrow. We'll see....
Debated about calling one of my two remaining siblings and asking why we were not invited to dinner. (L.o.l..) But the one is dealing with a major medical issue with a spouse. And the other is probably busy with a/their church. Plus covid concerns. (They all took a lot of time away with our last two family illnesses and following deaths.)
Maybe they'll call me and ask where their invite was.
I could have visited Dads estate hours away from them and cooked a bird....
I still need to grab the remains of his woodstove to salvage parts off. One Thanksgiving I watched him take the (Columbia brand?) turkey/roasting pan off the top of the barrel stove where it had spent the night. It was a great resulting cooked bird.
He boxed in the stove with cement blocks in his basement.
A single register in the floor above it heated the house.
And a water tank in the box/hut heated water, and fed it by gravity. (Heat rises, as does hot water as cold is added.)
When he pulled the stove after many decades of heating with wood , he said it's easier to just hit the switch on the wall thermostat.
(But he sure got riled up whenever propane costs went up... Visited one time when he was running an electric heater , over a price debate..l.o.l.)
