There used to be a large fish store I frequented that had live carp in a tank. The Jewish folks are crazy for it they'd pick one out and a fishmonger would butcher it and scale it for them. Not sure but believe they might grind it up and make gefelte fish balls with the flesh.

CARP I'm hooked on CARP!

Used to spend summer nights at the railroad trestle over the river area carp fishing.
There were other places over time too , but the one produced...

Ate some. With effort preparing them they're alright. But yes , they can go back too.

There are devoted fans that ran with Euro style equipment and tactics that target the biggest they can locate here.
They have no qualms about careful handling , a picture to brag ,and then a release.

I've ran across some giant carp (to me anyways when 30 lbs. is a neighborhood to start in) while fishing other species that would have been a challenge to work on catching. Or trying to catch.
Wary clear water specimens not desperate to feed.

A lot of ethnic people fish exclusively for carp down the river,I have made friends with many of them and they say 'thank you' over and over when I give them a catch.I learn a lot about their Countries talking to those folks,a lot off broken English but I get the gist. We all have 2 things in common,we are all people and we are all there for the fish.It'll be good to see them this spring.
