I read they are hard fighting fish. Yeah I often go light for fun. I have a Fenwick Eagle uktra light GLC that's 38 yrs old. Its my noodle rod. Id hate it to break.Probably a big striped bass. They get 30lbs plus in there, just not common. Was using a medium-light 6'6" quick action rod with 6lb test throwing jerk baits.
Had that rod for 30+ years, must've been deteriorating. The line should have snapped long before the rod.
I went to Wal-mart this morning and bought an Ugly-Stik as a replacement. They have a good reputation.I read they are hard fighting fish. Yeah I often go light for fun. I have a Fenwick Eagle uktra light GLC that's 38 yrs old. Its my noodle rod. Id hate it to break.

Hi. Did you try varying the metering, spot, centre, average!I tried, but the glare, lack of light... couldn't get a decent shot. Was hoping for a reflecto-masterpeice!!

Bird didn't stick around long.Hi. Did you try varying the metering, spot, centre, average!
Maybe spot on the bird would have brightened it up.
A polarising filter may have helped too. Circular so you can vary its effect.
Hi yeah the Uglies have a mad reputation. Old guy I used to fish with had one and was a drag locked up and haul em in type. Id see him get snagged and bend his rod in ridiculous angles that would have broken anything I owned. Funny guy.I went to Wal-mart this morning and bought an Ugly-Stik as a replacement. They have a good reputation.
The rod I broke was a Fenwick glass/carbon. Don't remember the model, but caught several hundred fish with it over the years.
Saw that and others at the drive in with my parents. My late father was a huge John Wayne fan.Hey my stomping grounds are mentioned!!
A picture of John Wayne ( or his double) on the Rogue River filming Rooster Cogburn...
The entire article from Republic World...
Rooster Cogburn's filming location heavily includes Oregon, a state in the Pacific Northwest region on the West Coast. It was shot in the state in autumn of 1974. The mountain scenes were filmed at Deschutes County west of Bend, on the Deschutes River for the whitewater rapids, and on the Rogue River in the counties of Josephine County. Filming of Rooster Cogburn river sequences took place at Grants Pass, Oregon and also at Curry County.
Smith Rock State Park, situated at the northeast of Redmond, Oregon, was also a setting for the movie. The Rockhard/Smith Rock Climbing Guides building at the park entrance was initially built as a set for the film, where it was shown as Kate's Salon. Deschutes National Forest was also among the shooting sites. The filming location of Rooster Cogburn also includes studio sets.
Filming of Rooster Cogburn reportedly commenced in September 1974. During shooting, John Wayne and Katharine Hepburn, were 67 years old, with the latter being two weeks elder. Both the actors stayed in Sunriver, Oregon while filming. It wrapped up shooting in November 1974.
Released in 1975
