That is such a wonderful picture & timeline for those little guys. My parakeets will lay eggs about 1 week apart so the babies mature at different times. They take at least 1 month or longer before they come out of the nesting box. Interesting too is almost all the parakeets in the cage will help in feeding the babies. Nature is amazing.Good morning everyone. Happy Mothers Day.
Speaking of mothers, the bluebird mama will be spending the day teaching her babies to hunt -- the nest is empty! The last one left about 11:30 yesterday morning. Unfortunately the camera didn't catch their actual first flights, just them tottering in the doorway before making the leap. (It automatically records for about a minute when it detects movement, then waits a couple of minutes before detecting motion again. Their flights all happened in that wait time.). But here's the last one sitting in the doorway right before leaving. Hatched April 21, taking flight on May 10, so only 19 days from hatched to flight. They sure do grow up fast!
