Hope everyone remembered their moms today and your wives and daughters that are moms. It doesn’t open for the season until May 15 but I got my mom tickets to a boat tour on the Saint Mary’s River to see the Soo Locks. (Sault Ste Marie, MI)

I hate wood... its the old way... from a time before we had better.
I think humans should stop using it as well... it the "cheap mans rig simple crapola"
Too many alternatives now and have been around that far supersede it.
Wood is cool as a trim or in furnishings etc. ONLY.

I especially have a dislike for it mainly due to my environment... IE: Florida.
They should never even use it here for anything... especially as a building material.
Everyone should support any and all alternatives to thwart the use of trees.
When forced with a choice... even if it costs more... you will be happier in the end if you made a choice away from wood.

Wood has its place... but in building... its in the past.
Not tree hugging here... just being advanced in thinking.

I like wood on my rifles. Beautiful rich colored walnut. I hate those synthetic stocks. Blah!😒 I’ll keep using wood!🪵

I agree that in Florida wood is a poor choice for structural buildings. Wind, water, termites are all in abundance and wreak havoc on wood structures. Studs and trusses can be made from metal and are very sturdy as well. These have been used now for decades with great success. Siding made from Hardie Board is concrete and is impervious to water & bugs as well. I was a bricklayer all my life and it is (brick) to me hands down the best exterior one could use on a structure.

Furthermore... on wood...

ITs a "simpletons fix" ... a "quick cheapo fix".

I do use it some... when i have no other choice or are limited in funds to do it right / correctly.

Sheesh... i would rather live in a cave than a wood house here in Florida.

This is an example of a "good use of wood".
This i agree with.
Wood should be reserved for these type of uses. IMO.

Wood is great / excellent for uses where "ornamental" or "visual" properties are concerned.

As far as a structural or longevity or imperviousness is concerned ... it sucks.

Frigging ... my house interior is loaded with wood.... but my house structure is block.

IF you GAVE me a wood house here.... i would have it listed for sale by NOON today.
And take that money and buy a block one.

No one who could afford it built anything out of wood... even then they knew better. heh

If you look back over time at civilizations of building things...

Woods symbolism = poverty.

It was and has always been looked at as a temporary cheapo fix.

Another gripe i have in building materials is...........

ASPHALT ROOF SHINGLES.

What a crapola out dated material.... sheesh dont get me started.

I think the petroleum industry has their claws DEEP into the "code" books for their gains.

Like our traffic light systems... which have LONG been barbaric dated.

Sheesh.... model trains have better tech now than our current traffic light systems.

They have spent so much time and resources coming up with super high tech cars to drive on OLD tech roads.

They can make cars that sense everything... FOR that single individual car customer...
BUT no one busts a move to create something better FOR everyone driving... and help the use of fossil fuels / gas prices.

Do you know how much fossil fuel is wasted every single hour worldwide at intersections and lame timed lights ? ? ?

Think about that the next time your bitching about the price of gas as your sitting at a light that just stopped 25 or 50 or more cars to allow 6 to go.
Also think about the wear and tear of your vehicle as a same result.
