The next hour will tell me if I get a reprieve from the watering chores.
No such luck here, I'm running hoses to trees now. (Young ones, planted within the last couple of years).

Good morning all

She might be going broody or she's asserting her dominance. 😁

I will be giving the Dream Mats a try.
So far Gold Hog mats have been untouchable. By far the best way to run a sluice is using the legs.... fast, easy set up, although in this pic the sluice ain't doin' shit !! :laughing7::laughing7:

Big Tree Boardwalk – Rockaway Beach, Oregon
This is a 1.2-mile easy out-and-back trail with a smooth, wheelchair-accessible boardwalk through old coastal forest and bogs. Along the way, you’ll see big trees like Sitka spruce, western red cedar, and willow . There are benches and picnic tables for breaks.
The highlight is the Big Tree—a giant western red cedar about 154 feet tall and 50 feet wide, around 900 to 1,200 years old.
Free parking near Highway 101, south entrance of Rockaway Beach.

Porta-potty at the start....... Well..... :laughing7:

The boardwalk doesn’t reach the beach, but Rockaway Beach and Twin Rocks are a short drive away for more exploring.

Pretty knarly looking tree.

He Bombed Their Town… Then Came Back With a Sword.
In 1942, a Japanese pilot named Nobuo Fujita dropped bombs over a forest in Oregon.
It was the only time the U.S. mainland was bombed during World War II.
His mission: start a massive wildfire.
The result: minimal damage, but lasting fear.
Decades later, something strange happened.
Nobuo returned to the same town, not as an enemy, but as a guest.
He brought his family’s samurai sword as a gift and symbol of peace.
The people of Brookings welcomed him.
He planted trees. Visited schools.
And apologized, face to face.
One of the war’s smallest attacks became one of its most touching endings.

That sword is in our public library. Brookings.... famous... kind of.

Good morning everyone.

Despite two stray cats, a pair of hawks, coyotes, and at least one red fox that all live on our property, we have a rabbit and squirrel population explosion this summer. Here's one right outside the front door.
