We have it, the daily highlights of each division, for 1 hour on one of our free to air TV stations every afternoon that the race runs. The fires elsewhere have knocked out the repeater for most of our other stations, about 12 of them, but thankfully the one that this station uses wasn't hit. 👍

Used some history and rumor from old timers as a last ditch detecting spot and ended up finding the rumors to be true and history in a spot no one appears to bothered to detect only hit a small portion right away hit my first V nickel it's toast but a first for me.

Fires still burning out of control in places, I think they have destroyed around 130+ homes. Not sure how many have died in them but I think about 3. Could have been much worse. At one place because of winds up to 70 - 90 kph, some firefighters were going to another spot in a ute and they said the fire was keeping up with them!
This is the smoke over our town right now. Nothing close to us thankfully.

Good morning all...

Chili...those fires are devastating, but natures been starting them for eons so
the ground cover can renew itself. Still, it sucks to see good folks lose their
homes and businesses, not to mention the loss and terror the wildlife goes
through.

You're right, quite a number of our native plants require fire or smoke to germinate their seeds. There's been a lot of livestock lost though. There will be a lot of wildlife gone too. ☹️
