Good morning all.

I was thinking about buying an automatic chicken feeder that closes at night, but they are really pricey, and the one I liked isn't actually shipping yet. So I built one instead. Got a cheap automatic chicken coop door off Amazon, built a wood box out of scrap, put double ramps inside to control feed flow, put the door on it for access, dressed it up a bit, and voila. My wife gave it the "little red barn" paint job. I just have to add a hinged roof. Now we don't have to worry about bringing the feeder in at night.

I got a message that the Tundra was done, so I went to pick it up. Battery dead
Had to jump start it with the Honda ( It's on the list for mechanic to figure out where there's a draw.
His neighbour dropped by after running the swamp on his little ATV-having carb issues or something.

I mentioned I was going to sell mine that has been sitting in the shop for 4 yrs ( carb. issues) Float kept getting stuck, so I took it off.
He wanted to see it.
Bought it for $2K
I deliver it this morning g with the plow and passenger seat.

Great looking feeder.
Looking at it, my chickens would empty it onto the ground then walk around in the feed pecking here and there at what they wanted.
Fussy peckers they are!

It’s hard to see in the photo but there is actually a bit of depth and a lip so it will be harder for them to spill feed. We’ll see.

My building a coop was an earth shaking job.
Years later I'd take the plunge and attempt a shed that still stands as a cautionary tale to other wood butchers.
Apparently you can't teach an old dog anything.

A auto gated feeder...Nah.
My luck there'd be a decapitated chicken at it in the morning. Or a plump rat inside in the morning..
The coop pop-hole had a cable and spring from the door to a lever outside the run.
Trick was to not close the door before the chickens were inside at night.
Not to be confused with closing the gate to the lawn/ yard from the chicken yard.
Arrive home after work in the dark to find chickens roosted hither and yon after kids were chasing them around and closing and opening and.....

Mornin all.

Hacked the roots off a potbound overgrown tree that put roots through the bottom onto rocky ground against the rock border of a flower bed.( No not my doing putting it there.)
Transplanted it to front yard where I took the steel wheeled horse drawn wagon away in halves.
If the tree lives it will only be because it gets watered a lot. And some luck.
But dang the hacking away by hand on mostly unyielding ground with a shovel.
probably should have cut the round root mass up some. But my shoulders were about on strike by then.
( Stunted would be fine where it is ; if it lives.)

Still a tad too chilly for a water hunt. Getting all the bikes, cars, RV, etc. sorted out for dead batteries and the like. Will head out to my favorite Native American site for a hunt tomorrow. It's been a while, kinda excited!

Hello all Friends! Cloudy, windy and cold today in N.E. Oregon mountains! It was 40'sF today when I got out of bed this morning. I did get up to the mid-50'sF but the wind was cold all day. I had been under the impression that it was actually spring here, but I shoould have known better!
