Good morning everyone. Rain finally stopped yesterday morning -- total was just over four and a half inches over about 24 hours. Lots of water and mud about. Found that one of the joints between the wall and the concrete floor is leaking in the shop. Water bubbling up. Does anyone know of a sealer that might actually work to fix that? I don't really want to dig up the outside of the wall if I can help it.

That's never a good find regardless where it is.
Hydraulic cement is an option for a temporary solution.
It's not the first big Rain storm you've had, so the question is why now?

Few thoughts is there a big O around the foundation?
If there is, chances are it's now plugged with dirt/sand/roots.
Classic problem with drainage is the filter cloth deteriorates over time and all thise little holes are welcome doors for root systems.
We dug up 40ft of drain tile on every line in my field one year.
Tree roots + drains = this.

Yeah, I know that’s the right answer. I just don’t like it. I have enough to do without that.

As for “why now”… we have had water in there before after a hard fast rain (typical rain does NOT make it happen), but never could figure out where it was coming in. Yesterday we actually saw it, so we know where it is now.

What is the wall construction type, wood, block, or something else? If it's wood & you seal it from the inside it will rot eventually so you need to get the source of the leak stopped.

Is roof water and ground beyond being diverted for runoff to keep it away from the foundation?

I had water in the newer pole barn this spring because leaves were touching it and allowed water a bridge.
Yes very different than your case. But if greater diversion existed I'd not have had that.

Mowed at the hunting property yesterday. Couldn't hardly thrash my way through it to get to the tractor on the trailer.
Yeah I knew I was way past due.
3-4 foot high stuff.

What comes to mind for me is...Phil Swift's Flex Seal and the Swift Family of Sealing Products!

The back of the shop is partly earth sheltered, so the lower part of the well (well above any potential water line) is poured concrete.

Is roof water and ground beyond being diverted for runoff to keep it away from the foundation?

Not in any meaningful way, and honestly I'm not sure you could. It's on the side of a gentle downhill slope, so I presume there is some underground drainage. There are no visible runoff streams or anything like that. I could add gutters along that side, I guess. Might help a bit, and doesn't require digging. (Also makes a certain amount of sense because we only ever get water in there if it rains really hard and drops a lot of water quickly. Runoff from the roof sure seems like it would contribute to that.

A crude eves trough might help. Just to get the water somewhere else to sink in or flow away from the building(s).
It's still just a gutter of sorts though. Same difference if water uses it.

Yesterday hunt,
I went back to my favorite spot in the mountains looking for more silver, I didn’t get the big half dollar but my friend found one this time, I even got to swing over it and assured him it was going to be a half dollar.

I ended up with 1 silver Rosie 3 wheats and my the find of the day. Sterling silver navigator wings from WWII , l still need to research, don’t know it they were government issued or something a soldier would purchase also were the would have it on their uniform.
