Went out today to a new area in the city. Got out of the car and started to do some coin hunting. This guy walks up to me and told me I was wasting my time, because all summer long guys were there metal detecting and I would not even find a penny.. I said thanks but I will try anyways . He said well you will be just wasting your time. I told him I am retired and have all the time in the world..LOL Anyways after about 1 1/2 hours of hunting with my Ace 250 . I dug up the following .. 1 Andrew Jackson dollar coin, 9 quarters, 10 dimes, 9 nickels , 45 pennies, 1 Chucky Cheese token and a live 38 special + P Federal bullet . All clad coins... So the story is no place is ever bone dry of coins... Plan to go back again before the weather gets bad here.. I didn't even make a dent in that park..I am sure there are more coins buried there.. Sent a few pics Shane Total of $5.15 in clad

Shane,

Good haul.....the last 20 years or so I've been hitting pounded sites in my area and still manage some clad and keepers for my efforts.....just take a small section of the park....grid it and do the overlaps and go slow....should be some keepers waiting for your coil.

Heard that!

Maybe that was his spot lol, nice haul!!!

I was thinking the same thing jcoob.. that is what made me work the area ...

You scored big for a park with no treasure! Nice grabs!

I told him I am retired and have all the time in the world..LOL

:-\

Way to show the rest of us "suckers" who have jobs and lives.

Well done!! Yea probably his site. HH

Critical Recovery. I put my time in at my job. Worked at the same place from 1960 to 2002..71 yrs old now so I think I can take all the time I want coin hunting..
Do not know how old you are, but I am sure your day of retirement will come. Good Hunting Shane

Nice Score!..I love when people tell me that a place is hunted out.. makes me feel good knowing they might not be back...Hell, i have went to places I thought was "Hunted Out" and suprised myself with goodies

Good hunt, Love them spot that are hunted out. HH

I don't think any spot is every completely hunted out. Those coins all look kinda clean to me...like new drops. That place must replenish itself every year. Keep at it, I'm retired too and really enjoy the time outdoors. I just found my 105th quarter this summer in one of my spots. If you run into that guy again, just tell him he was right, there's nothing to find here, lol.

yeah, i get sick of hearing that from other ppl. even if they are detectorists themselves, i ignore them. going slow, being disciplined, and gridding always win out.

Great finds of your quarters Dug1898 Same here I enjoy the outdoors and the relaxation of being retired.. End of the month I will be taking all my clad coins to the bank to cash them in. This has been one of my better years in finding lots of clad. Had some luck with .925 silver and some old ID pennies also.. No luck so far with my nice gold ring that is waiting for me someplace LOL I metal detect for the fun,,If I find the Mother Load fine if not I will be happy digging up clad coins Good Hunting Shane

nice haul Shane, the wife says our retirement is about a year away, then its full time MDing!

Thanks Firemac. I am sure you will enjoy retirement,, As long as you have good health that's all one asks for.. Then MD'ing is a joy . If its just clad or a gold ring it is the fun of finding things buried in the ground.. That's what this hobby is all about to me Good Hunting Shane

there are alot of new hunters out there and have not quit learned there machines hunting parks finding maybe a coin here and there and then people think it is hunted out when they stop finding things. The best thing to do Hunt it no matter how many times it has been hunted you always find something...HH everyone

Hunted out....ha! I never believe anyone when they say that.

Clad is always nice to find...it brings us closer to retirement! Nice haul.
