Treasure Clue, can you help?

Chillijilli...

i have the same printing as you... look at the piece of grass that goes up from the bottom and the green tree root headed towards the bottom of the page (right around the binding). They both cross the binding, and it looks like our picture is actually missing about a forth of an inch because the pieces on either side of the spine don't match up. My guess is that the "Y" is in that 1/4 inch. I believe its a printing error.

As reported by the Arizona Daily Star, 02/10/05

http://www.dailystar.com/dailystar/accent/60683.php

Stadther had previously said that 12 pieces were out there to be found, but during a recent phone interview from his office in New York, the writer revealed there are actually 13 .

The revelation came as Stadther cleared up another clue that he released last month. That clue is not mentioned in the book.

CNN.com and other sources reported that Stadther gave his treasure hunters the following clue: "Hint: Tackle repositories." Stadther explained that he'd actually said: "Hint: Tackle repositorys."

"It's an anagram," he said. "It's 'Crystal Pook is thirteen.' What that's saying is that there are 13 jewels instead of the 12 that everyone knew about."

I think that, technically, the 12 pieces that contain gem stones are considered 'jewels' and the thirteenth is crystal. I think there is a technical distinction between the two.

LaJolie, I dunno. Doesn't that sort of unconnected stroke you're talking about look like the downward stroke of a capital "R"---as he used throughout the rest of the message on this page? I guess I can barely see an "o", but still think the "Y" is missing--- could you please recheck and tell me where the rest of the capital "R" in the word "foR" is? I know this might seem totally anal, but I find an interesting pattern in the book re: missing things and extra things (such as the letter "e")... Thanks! Anyone out there w/ a FIRST printing???

I ordered my book the day (the hour) that I heard about MS's hunt on the Today Show. And I receaved mine about late november/early dec. can't remember the exact date but mine is a first edition, first printing

Chilli

i spread the pages far apart so i could see EVERYTHING... probably messed up the binding, but thats not the point... i dont know what downward stroke you are talking about... i described the things ONLY in light green... if you havent spread the pages apart far enough you probably can't see the matching parts to the big blade of grass (it starts at the very bottom of the page, similar to the blades on pg 27) and the tree root that are on the opposite page. Also, Rusful's trail of dust doesn't match up between the pages and i looks like there is a section that is missing... I could be wrong though. I haven't seen the first printing so i don't know what its actually SUPPOSED to look like. But i am still pretty confident that it is an error.

Chilli,
I have only "First Edition" written in my book, so I assume it's the first printing. If I spread the seam apart, I can see just a little of a heavy black line which could make the Y of you.

Hi, Gaines,
Per your note above, I'm still working on the premise that the bodies/arm positions of the fairies on page 36 make up the words.
Did you have any luck making out the words from tool shapes on page 19? I'm still trying to make out the last two words of the border. Hope you've had better luck with it. I'm also wondering if there's another poem of all the very hidden clues, similar to the current poem of fairly obvious clues. MS says the "simple clues don't need special knowledge ...". He didn't say anything about the hard clues, now did he! What do you think?
This is so addictive!!

Hi all

This is my first post here... thanks for all the helpful tips and clues!

I was just wondering if any of you could explain to me exactly how to fold pg. 77 so it shows "there are thirteen". I seem to be stuck on that!

All help is much appriciated

could you explain the whereabouts of the spider in 41? i cant find it anywhere ???

On the very stained shirt of the orange haired fairy, there on his left shoulder is a dark spot that, to me, looks like a spider.

Cal56,
No more progress on the fairies and tools, but I spent most of yesterday on the book (not much else gettting done!) and found other things on other pages. I usually post more on Tweleve.org just because of how they are organized. Anyway, it is my belief that the "easy" clues (which are not so easy) are mere "hints" and do not lead us to the direct or exact location. I feel that must lie in a cipher text buried somewhere in the actual text of the book and that is where this thing will get difficult. The "easy" clues might give us a state, for example, but I doubt they will ever give us the hiding spot of a jewel. So, we press on!

to find "there are thirteen" on page 77
take the right side of the page and fold that border
then match the lines to the border on the left side
then with page 76 in your lap, starting from the left(about an inch margin) you'll see a cursive T
it's written in cursive and it's pretty large letters, but pretty easy to read
:)

Ok thanks whisper I see it now...

HandGems,
I looked up zip code 27234 and it brought up no results... how did you find out that it was Columbus, OH? ???

One of them could be in OH, though, cause we do have clues pointing there... I dunno if it's been dicussed but regarding pg. 41 with the pic of the fairies w/ the flour box... the design on the flour box is almost the exact design as the state seal of Ohio (with the sun rising between the hills).

Any thoughts?

Backwards, 43272, it's a Columbus, Ohio zip code.

Has anyone tried to read other words besides "Page_78 = Seize your token and reach your goal"? On the right outside I think I see "LooK At toK" and then I lose it. I think there are several layers in this picture.

This probably means nothing, but who knows! Has anyone noticed that on the table of contents where it says Chapter thirteen the C is black while the rest of the print is blue. Also the first letter of the chapters on pages 12 (B), 35 (A), 48 (A), and 73 (P). Maybe these 5 letters have something to do with the code 5 to a side? CBAAP AHHH! I don't know. I think I'm reading too much into things.
