MissMoops....surely you do not think anyone is going to recap or take the time to bring you up to speed when you will not take the time to read through the post. If you can not take an hour to read through all the old post than obviously you do not have the time to find the treasure. Not trying to be an ass but your multiple posts that do nothing to advance the search are becoming very old very quickly.

LITDOC, THANKYOU. the tool pg was bothering me too and that will come in handy tomorrow.

LIL BOO, i see your new , WELCOME!!

Sorry about the picture post . didnt come out as i hoped , got the bugs worked out and hopefully will be able to send a more smaller version tomorrow. anyway as you are new want to tell you to read back through the old posts to help you catch up to speed. if you have already what are you waiting for .... send us a clue.

Poe also wrote a short story involving a cipher called "The Gold Bug"
Seems like Poe was an inspiration to MS?

Hi, I just want to bring your attention to the title and disclaimer at the bottom of my last posting about the "tools page." This came from Tweleve.org, and was deciphered by Renart (not me). I want to give due credit. However, the posting below Renart's debunked his theory.

Paradox,

I had seen a post earlier, may have been on another board, about a token being in the smoky mountains. i was interested because I have done some hiking there. I looked into it some more, I did not come up with nearly as much info as you did, as I'm not that familiar with the area. Just wanted to say that there appears to be quite a few solid references there..

question: How good of shape is MS in? from what I hear those are some steep trails up Mt. Leconte. and would this fit into the category of "easily accessible"?

LITDOC, you went back and dug it up for us, i remember someone posting the words on the tool pg but could'nt remember how it all went together. so now i have it . this one was more better to understand than the one i remember being posted so yes thanks.

Hi, Guys,
I post as renart on tweleve.org, and I wrote the post on deciphering the tool page.
Calvin never posted any original thoughts of his own to decipher p.19 and shortly afterward stopped posting at all that I've seen.
I think you have to make your own assessment about whether the solution is reasonable as I posted it.
the only place where I have a question is the word PLOT/PLOY. Not sure about that. Otherwise, I stand on what i posted until someone offers a better solution.
Hope this helps!
Chris

SORRY ?for another post. ?

LUCIDIOUS , just wanted to say you may be right . i forgot about that one. i read it a long time ago. gives me an excuse to visit the library.

TO ALL, i just wanted to say on the topic of everyone really digging into this book. i tend to agree with everyone we may be really digging, especially me. i think i'm on a nature hunt , not a treasure hunt. sorry . what i wanted to say was while i agree with the idea and do think it may be a simple answer , we won't know that until we uncover every stone and look in every tree hole. maybe thats ?ms's idea to keep us off the obvious. no matter what im having a good time looking at every thing and yes digging.

TO everyone who has a hunch, go for it . you may find a token you may not . but i believe you'll have the best experience ever either way and one you'll always remember . take someone along . i really don't remember the last time a book was so much fun.

No, I don't think MS hid a token at the top of Mt. Leconte; however, a more assessible place would be at the beginning of the hiking trail. ?Isn't there a place for hikers to sign in to let the forrest service know who might be on the trail in the event of an accident? ?That might be a place to hide a token.

I agree with little doc. Remember when you are searching, he has hidden them in places accessible to everyone. I take this to include wheelchairs.

Has anyone tried to link pages together based on colors (of boarders or background), weeds in the bottom left, dandelions in the bottom right? etc.. Maybe joining pictures together they mean something different then individually.

OK, so now I am having a hard time keeping up with the forum! ?We're opening up a new page a day right now, WOAH! ?Also, and this is the last time I'll comment on this because I know I sound like a broken record, but PLEASE be cautious about what you put out there people! ?Honestly, I haven't seen anything that has moved my hunt forward, but I'm also not 100% sure I'm on the right track. ?What you may think is general knowlege my result in some boo-boo who's watching this forum from the sideline claiming a token.

There are quite a few folks on this forum I would like to see get a token, and I would be incredibly disappointed if their hard work was for naught. ?Then again, it's your search, not mine, and I'm not going to worry about it anymore. ?I've said my piece. ?Good luck, and one last time, BE CAREFUL!!

For those who have been requesting a primer on everything we've found. ?With all due respect, we've all been through this forum, and we ALL realize what a painful and arduous task it is. ?Still, if we can do it, you can do it! ;) ?Plus, you can find good posts from many of the regular posters here throughout the thread that do detail everything. ?I believe I posted on page 19 or roundabouts the poem and the locations of the hidden creatures. ?That's a foundation we're all working from right now. ?And the best place for you to start.

There was a post yesterday commenting that there was a lot of work being done that is likely MORE than is really necessary. ?I would like to say that while it is certainly necessary to rip this book apart, he wouldn't have put it in a workbook format, but the use of copiers, scanners, magnifiying glasses, 3-D glasses, etc. is really not necessary. ?No special tools are needed, and if you are not able to see something with the naked eye, I honestly don't believe it is part of the hunt.

Next, the cipher key. ?We're all aware of the text holding something to the puzzle. ?But to really drive that home, go to the ATT website. ?Click on 'The Book', then look over to the right side of the page for 'Related Links'. ?Click on 'Errata'. ?There you will see errors that have been posted from the book. ?One in particular is directly from the text. ?As of right now, there are two errors that appear in the book. ?One in the actual text, the other in the back in the description of the Firefly jewel. ?I do not believe the back of the book with the descriptions of the jewels holds any secrets, but the error in the text is probably worth looking into.

PANCHO, i agree completely on not needing any special tools. i have thought of this everytime i go get my magnifying glass . i would like to point out that in ms. companion book he had a lot of puzzles in there other than cipher puzzles that dealt with hidden images. i dont think he would have included them in the book if they weren relevant to the book. as we have all found the puzzles in the companion book all relate to the treasure book. while some people may not need these tools others may . some having poor eyesight ,etc. i guess what i'd like to say is yes we have to dig , but how far?

Panch:

I reported that 2nd error through the ATT official site. ?It said that I would receive a response in 24 hours. ?When I didn't hear back in that time frame, I was convinced it was a clue. ?Then, I did hear back from MS himself saying it was, indeed, an error. ?The reason I thought the jewel descriptions might contain clues is because someone else pointed out there is a black dot below the token on page 110. ?Like a period. ?So I was thinking Grams, Grandma.....

I read his explanation for the first error somehwere (can't remember where now) and thought it was interesting. ?He said dozens (hmm, 12 again) of proofreaders missed it because they weren't sure what were really errors or what were really clues. ?Kind of goes back to the real key being in the text, doesn't it?
