As a civilian,I was a supervisor reactivating the Wisconsin, and also the Iowa at Pasgagoula,Ms.Quite a ship(s).Nothing more beautiful than a Battleship.Must have been a thrill to land on that WW11 workhorse.

I had the honor of landing on 4 of the big boys,

BB-61 Iowa
BB-62: New Jersey
BB-63: Missouri
BB-64: Wisconsin

yes they were impressive, I got to see some stuff while we were in Beruit and Gulf War 1.

Here is a pic of the new Jersery off Beruit helping out my fellow servicemen

and the Iowa firing her guns too

Those 16"'rs have a 20mi range. When we turned the turrets to starboard and fired all the guns at once, the ship moved 50ft broadside in the water.Turrets have 16"bulkheads.In WW11,a kamikazie landed square on top of turret 2.When they called the guys for a damage report,no one in the turret knew that a plane had crashed on top of 'em.The New jersey is the only one I haven't been on.

Ok, its time for a reunion!!! I haven't seen you guys in a week, we have a lot to discuss and go over. Besides the military stories we didn't get to share. Looks like we need a week at least. Anybody up for a reunion yet???

Just got an email from Ed in Uvalde. He said the letter To the Editor was in the Sunday paper there and greatly appreciated. He said the only edit to it by Carol,Editor, was to who Joanne worked for.She works for the Convention and Visitors Bureau, not the Chamber of Commerce.I had also added a special thanks to geo, landowner, for his hospitality.

After the deer season, this month,I'll ask Joanne to check the planting and harvesting dates for the govenor's land next to Ft Inge.Or what dates it would be available.Remember they have two growing seasons down there.

Guys, I am packed, and ready! WSD, thanks again for all of the hard work you put into finding this great area!
