What am Looking at?

Found this square on a side of a mountain and it appears to be a face looking in the general direction of an old mine and stone cross. The square is not natural as the stones are placed around the perimeter and the middle of the square is filled with earth and rock.. Is this something I should go back too?

I'd check it out. It's, at least partially, still standing because it's casting a shadow.

Its a solid rock structure.

Strange, there is a trail to the mine and the cross, but not to the cabin, if that is what it is.
