What is this?? Buckle??

Hi all I just want to know what this is, it was found this evening on a plowed field and looks copper or bronze. Could it be some sort of buckle etc the only thing is, it has some sort of dip on one side.See for yourself in the photos

Type of a Conway buckle used on horse tack/harness.That would be very handy on a breast collar/martingale
