What is this stone? anybody?

This one has stumped me since found 2-3 yrs. ago. In behind the rust its dark green, solid and heavy, pressure/heat lines , 13 inches around, on one side it looks melted flat and smoothish...Anybody know?

Hey, Eu c, kept some dust/powder (color is tannish/beige)..a few bits/pieces popped off too, will put pic of them here shortly. Re: hammer, i've knocked some chunks off too...same thing (rust exterior).

Check army surplus, I saw one in called twin city surplus in sparks nv for like a 200 bucks it was in working conditon, but that was awhile ago. 2008. Theres always ebay. :find:

Limonite produces brownish streaks. Example: Streak plate test of the mineral Limonite - 42-23929347 - Rights Managed - Stock Photo - Corbis
Can you scratch it with a knife?

Hi Eu, yes the rust area leaves brown streak..but the polished green area leaves no color. Very sharp point of knife pressed down hard leaves a white line on the green area.

pwp, would copper slag have the jade green colored stone as the matrix?

perhaps...if exposed to water over time..
green, blue in some shade is evidence of copper...

The "white" line on the green stuff just means it was harder then the knife.

I don't see any way to resolve this other then that you should take it to a local expert.
