i got a black half dollar coin roll hunting once, had to clean it to tell what it was. it turned out to be a 1964 kennedy half.

Gotta learn some how right? thanks!!

And you are doing very well. Just digging, there is more out there. Nice find and hats off on your first silver well done. HH

lol when its silver it ROCKS but when its clad it might as well be chrome plated lol :D sweet Franklin congrats

Thanks!! How next time usa a dollar coin!! 8)

A Ben half was my 1st silver coin too..1948..had to have been 25 years ago and I still have it,found it in my grandmothers front yard when I was 13

Silver doesn't tarnish in the ground. That's why it's white. :) GREAT find! I just got my first Franklin in 20 years of digging last year.

Nope, you dont see a ton of Franklin silver halves being found by tnet members...

As BuckleBoy stated the silver usually does not tarnish in the ground but if you ever hunt the beaches by the ocean they will come out completely black. If you look at my avatar the cob to the right was a land find and the cob to the left was a beach find.

Congrats again...I'm still loking for my first Franklin...have a few Walking Liberties and Silver Dollars but Ben keeps eluding me...lol.
