You can be tracked from the sky using the Ctx 3030

This is the technology that bothers me. I don't have one but they use these here in Western Washington to pay tolls for bridges and for paying extra for single occupant vehicles to be allowed to drive in some HOV lanes at certain times of day. I can see a time coming when these are used to track vehicles and for speeding tickets. Just put a reader in 2 locations a known distance apart and calculate the speed between the two points. Send your ticket in the mail or just take it out of the account you have linked to the RFID tag. I'm sure the someone with the government or the RFID manufactures have already thought of it.

Maybe it will be like hunger games where they require all of us to have tracker injected under the skin.

Well i can put a very small chip in my pet and see were it goes......... So what is the reason they can not put a tracking chip in your detector or the GPS in your detector ????????????? They can do it yes they can......

yes we know that a tracking chip device, can be put in just about anything
but why would the Md co. spend that kind of money to do that, the co. already
knows where the most/least sales areas are from purchase, so i cant think of
a reason/s why they would want to know where you are detecting, 2nd thought
to see if the Md is being used in non detecting areas, still that is a lot of $$ to
invest to see you are detecting illegally

A lot of this stuff isn't a matter of "Can someone do it" it's someone finding the motive to do it. I remember when cookies became known and people had a fit. They sugar coated the cookie technology and explained it as an aid to web navigating, and it was, but left out the other parts. At the time few thought it possible to see your files on another computer. Today it's commonplace.
Three motives come to mind. One is to provide a better product. Another is to find a way to profit from information. Third is understanding parts of our government are paranoid. Motivated by fear, they will go to extremes to find information and justify it by claiming patriotism.
If it can be done, someone will do it. If not today...tomorrow.
I remember a woman from India after being asked about the dangers of loosing a democracy. She looked surprised and said " Oh my, Democracies are in trouble all over the world." Sometimes I think Americans need to understand that.

What technology? Because as of now, there are 2 technologies.

1 is an RFID tag that the vets/pound can scan and retrieve some stored data such as the owner ID and address.

The other is a GPS receiver that you can either download the contents of (once the critter gets home) or one that phones home via cell phone.

You are probably referring to the Tagg system, or otherwise called "pet tracker". Go look at their website and you will see some pull down menus. You will notice one called "coverage area".

The coverage area coincides with the current national cell infrastructure coverage. The device phones home via a cell link. Again, no way to just track the GPS device itself.

Nothing is keeping Minelab from installing the exact same device and tracking it's users. They could easily. The point of all of this is that they are NOT and CANNOT currently track users of the CTX3030. It has a receive only GPS in it that in no way will magically transmit its data to a central agency. I just swing my 3030 for 2hours. Minelab did not, nor could they, watch my every move. It simply isn't within the capability if the GPS.

Maybe its the same technology the goverment uses to wacth us through our tvs.

Just an interesting addition to the conversation...

I recently renewed my passport and received the usual passport as well as a passport ID card (similar to a driver's license in size.)

It has an RFID tag in it.

But then, we can also be tracked through our cell phones. LOL

I feel sorry for the poor government employee watching my boring routine. :)

Unless people are worried about a stalker or are doing something illegal , does it really matter if we could be tracked? Who is gonna want to watch the everyday person, leave the house, go to Wawa , work, the grocery store, and back home again ?

Just because you have a RFID chip, or a GPS chip does not mean you have the hardware to generate your own radio signal, and transmit your coordinates. Like others have said, you would need cellphone chips, and the accompanying battery to do this.

I think Toyota has the capability without on star but they do not necessarily use it although agency could force them to provide it. It is explained on Toyota website if memory serves correct. I try not to worry about it since I don't plan on giving reason to be tracked.

I received a letter from my Insurance Co. Last week. It said I could get up to 5% discount on my rates based on the technology within my vehicle (a Toyota) I think they track your driving habits, speeds, distance travel ect. I tossed the letter in the trash.

In N.Y. State your Drivers License has a chip in it to track you if they want....they might have that chip in the 3030 who knows.

It's an RFID chip. Then can only see when that chip passes through an exciter (like the anti theft panels at the exit of Walmarts). They can't just track the drivers license wherever you go.

No RFID exciter = no tracking. The could put one in a 3030, but it would be worthless since it only logs the unit passing within a few feet of the large panels. And not just ANY panels. The panel must be setup to read exactly that type of chip, then it must be connected to the internet and the log would have to be transmitted to whoever is bored enough to want to track such things.

Hospitals have been doing this for years as a way to track assets. At first, the exciter panels were only placed on exits/entrances to see an exact date and time when the device left the property. Now, a number of facilities are placing them on all doorways (think small panel antenna on the ceiling over a door). With this, they can watch as employees enter and exit each room/hallway/elevator/etc due to RFID tags inside of the employee badge.

But these are useless away from the exciter source. Nothing to track.

Well, I agree with your statement normally, but I think what most people are worried about is the potential of the Gov. to use this info as some sort of control factor, like speeding tickets in the mail from some unseen box on the side of the road. There is also the potential of hackers gleaning info.
Just my thoughts, Frank...

... They should could ...Why some think they can't i have no idea.......The ones that say they can't or don't care must work for the government..

Actually, Google is extremely interested. The newest cell phones track everywhere you go, when you go and learn your routines. They can then tell you en-route to work to take a different road because of an accident ahead, because it knows you better than you know yourself. The next generation will also be constantly listening to your conversations and recording data about what you discuss so that it can research for you and present ideas for you. This isn't conspiracy theory stuff, they admit this is what they are developing. It's all in the interest of helping us, but I see great danger in the technology to come down in the next 10 years.

Edit- I just noticed you said "go to Wawa"... LOL, I know what part of the country you're in!

I think if I had a license like that, I would place it between two flat metal plates and wack the hell out of it with a 10# mall, then slip it back in my wallet. Frank...111-1 profilecracked.webp

This place is better than tv and soap operas! Thanks for the laughs everyone.
Also, ty wyomingmedic, for at least appearing to be a voice of intelligent reason.

Anyone, anywhere, can be tracked, given the proper tools for the job.
Your body heat can be tracked with heat sonars, how ya think snakes do it?
Natives, Inuits, trappers, and others know tracking from signs left.
Even ghettos have their lookouts and know who comes and goes.
For all the tracking our government does and is doing, they still couldn't stop a bomb from going off and killing people.
I doubt they care about when and where I move my bowels.
