100 YEAR OLD COIN SPILL .....AND THERE'S MORE IN THE HOLE!!!

OK folks, this is a new one for me.......In my town there is a small/medium grassy knoll area near the town cemetery. I found a nice 1906 Barber dime there 2 nights ago and went back there again last night. I started detecting at 7pm and around 7:15pm I found an 1890 Indian.I swung my loop (XLT)just to the left of that hole and there was a large (2x2) area that was sounding off, a little broken up and I almost walked away from it but it pinpointed at 3.5 inches so I dug and out came an 1880 Indian and the rest is history.......FOR THE NEXT 30 MINUTES I PROCEEDED TO PULL OUT 13 INDIANS AND 4 DIMES!!!!....It was now about 7:50pm and very dark so I had to leave......On one of my last handfuls of dirt I pulled out a pretty large (2 inches) piece of green glass and it got me thinking all night that maybe I have found coins that someone buried in a jar and the jar broke......the hole is still sounding off loud and clear and it is raining hard here (Mass) so I'm not sure when I can go back...I am hoping this afternoon.....I will keep you posted....I hope you enjoy the pics!

WOW, I've had some mutli coin holes, but yours tops any of mine. I found an 1873 or so spill with several early Indians, nickel 3 cent piece and a shield nickel-but no silver This wwek I dug out several teens wheats, a buffalo nickel and finally a little silver shined in the hole, a 1900 Barber dime. Congrats again and get back there and finish it up, it's storming here right now, but I'd still get out to finish that spot.

I would had to have stayed. Many caches have been lost due to the human memory (or lack thereof). Just my thoughts. Congrats on a great find.

very nice finds, becareful about putting your hands in a hole with broken glass though. I think you hit a motherlode and I for one don't want to see you having to go to the hospital for a tet shot.

The idea that those coins were protected by glass...................................WOW. that would make them AU minimum

Thanks very much for all the kind replies, I appreciate it.......The radar map right now shows a light steady rain from now until about midnight with the temp right now being 44. (It was 65 yesterday )......my wife just looked at me a little while ago and said "You want to go back to that hole, don't you?"....lol. Honestly, I haven't decided if going back tonight or in the morning. You will all be the first to know.

As for the "ethics" question (head shaking)........I am not detecting in a cemetery, I am detecting on town land that is next to the cemetery. It's approximately an acre of land that the town somewhat maintains with a few large trees in it, ect.....I've seen people get their wedding pictures taken there, that kind of stuff. You can't drive into it, you need to walk though an old metal gate.

I'll update you all ASAP.
