Just picked up 170.00 in rolls from my CU. They looked customer wrapped. Havent cracked em open yet. How well do you guys typically do with rolls like this? I am hoping from Grandpa's coin stash, but im prepared for someone else's ****. lol. Am i too far off with this feast or famine guess?

I've had some good luck with CWRs. I find most of my silver from them. Good luck!

Always expect to be skunked and you might stick with it for a while.

Only one way to find out. Open 'em up. Good Luck!!

Thanks guys! I work till 6... so i will open them up soon enough!!

Solid silver rolls are found in counts like that. I'll never understand the willpower people have, I wudda craked 'em open in the parking lot! Good luck

Maybe yours are, but all my major scores have been in $60 or less.

Good luck, OP.

I agree with Fist... Just knowin you have that many rolls just sitting there makes me want to find out where you live and OPEN THEM RIGHT NOW! Why torture yourself???

10 seconds a roll - not very hard

My best success is in $10-$100 worth. Over $300 is often a dump, but not always. I once scored a 65 all by its lonesome, no dumping needed. :)

I have had some luck with customer wrapped rolls but normally in smaller amounts but did score pretty good on $250 worth of cwr's once. Look @ it this way.....its not costing you anything so have at it.....Good Luck hope you pull some silver !

Skunked. Nothing. haha! And to clarify, I have yet to really budget time for this new hobby, so
I had to make my bank run over lunch. Barely got back to work in time before a meeting. Trust
me, I was the kid who had to open EVERYTHING. Suspense killed me the last few hours at work.

Anyways, back to the rolls. I got someone else's dump. Had some red pain marks on them, and no
silver. Its all good though, i was able to squeeze out of work a couple min early and was able to pick
up some Dimes and my second box of pennies in a week. The pennies seem to help keep my spirits
up as they have almost always produced a few wheaties for me. The dimes weren't so lucky, nothing
in them either
rolls.webp

i bought 10 CWRs today and got 1 1964 for my trouble. h.h.

we are in the same boat. pennies keep me going as i currently dump a lot a coinstar. I also like nickels as i sometimes find war nickels and always some pre 1960s. i also feel like the coin machine (behind the counter and a bit of a drive) at my CU can coint them accurately.

slyguy, it can't hurt to try, believe me, if i average 1 silver per $1,000 in half dollars, I am doing good...

Keep searching the halves... You'll get a good score eventually. There is a ton of silver out there, being replenished DAILY! It sounds a little insensitive, but there are a lot of baby boomer wives outliving their silver-hoarding husbands who see half dollar rolls and just take them straight to the bank, unaware they are cashing in fortunes at face value.

HH & keep searching!

I can't get boxes of halves in my area so cwr and loose is my only option. I alway take them all. Been hunting since febuary and need one more 40% to complete my first roll. Went in to a bank last week, asked for halves, and the pretty, young teller said "I've got one", like she was sorry that's all she had for me. "I'll take it" I say. She looks it over them hands it to me. It's a dirty 1964. My first 90%. Thank you and have a nice day.

Question. As of this moment i only have affiliation with one bank, Wells Fargo. The convenient part about this bank, is the fact that i have 6 branches in my town, and they order through Brinks. I have had decent luck so far, no attitude about what i am doing.. however, would it be suggested that i get another account in town? How do people tend to do with Credit unions, or smaller regional banks?

Thanks guys

Credit Unions usually can't order, or can only order small amounts. However, they usually have better service.
