Just went out in my yard for an hour or so and pulled an 1875 S seated liberty 20¢ coin. The pics don't do it justice the details are amazing.

Congrats on the great find!! Very elusive coin indeed- you virtually NEVER see them posted....

Maybe your next backyard find will be even rarer!

Good luck to you!

Great coin, she's a looker for sure

I once pulled a coin from the mud and I could see 'Twenty Cents' around the bottom edge,
after a rinse I discovered it was late 19th C Chinese silver :laughing7:
Congrats on your Banner !!

Well getting a banner from your backyard has to be first on Tnet, as far as I can remember - CONGRATS.

First let me say congrats on the banner .!!! There are far fewer 20 centers showing up than gold coins and I think they all should make the banner. I think there have only been 4 or 5 posted on tn. I am pretty sure mine was the only one not to make banner but I was a new poster at the time and tn. was a different site. I'm still looking for the sister to mine perhaps one day! Thanks M.R. for the mention and again CONGRATS ON A SUPER RARE FIND. Goldbill

I figured it out when it appeared at the top.

I have just begun detecting and my yard has been great. House built in 1828. Finds in my yard to date:

3 large cents, including an 1801 error (unfortunately it has a hole in it)

3 Indian heads

A standing liberty quarter

The 1875 20 cent piece

Many wheats and clad

A silver spoon engraved with the house builders wife maiden name. I had it dated to 1790's. The handle is intact, but much of the bowl is missing. Still nice to have something from the original owners family.

But my favorite is a horse check tag from a famous ballroom down the street. It opened in the 1890's and they must have checked in horses like we do coats.

No problem at all. I agree that if mine is a banner, your buddies should be too. Where in Maine do you detect? I spend summers in Maine.

Congratulations on a fantastic find. These coins don't show their faces very often.
